I just read all the cereal boxes in this house, and the Cheerios and Kix are also only 1 gm, but the Uncle Sam's is a whopping 10 grams per 1 cup serving. To sweeten it up you could get the added fruit one ( think they're berries or something) that just came on the market, or just add cut up fresh fruit. I know others have mentioned Kashi's cereal, but I don't know what their fiber counts are. Just roam the cereal section of your local health food store - they have plenty of high fiber cereals and many are pre-sweetened. You're looking to find a whole grain on the ingredient label as the *first* ingredient, not about 15th down the list and only a flour product, as these new General Mills cereals have it. A 1/2 cup has 4 grams of fiber. I have some every morning. My typical breakfast is: 1/2 cup oatmeal (dry); 1 cup 1% milk, & 1 banana (sliced up & in the oatmeal). I add a touch of cinnamon -- there is some studies that say cinnamon on a daily basis can help lower blood sugar in diabetics. I usually add some splenda to the mix before eating it just for a little bit of sweet flavor. Dacia <>< The Word became a human being. He made his home with us. We have seen his glory. Guest guest
-- Did your nutritionist give you a list of things that are high in fiber that are good for you to eat? There really aren't any rules that you have to have "breakfast food" for breakfast. If there is something else on that list that you like -- go ahead & eat it for breakfast. Guest guest
Yeah she did give me a list of stuff..but I dont like eating in the mornings AT ALL...so the quickest thing for me to eat and I can deal with is cereal. I did find that Total Raisin Bran has 5g. of fiber I think...so I may try it. I guess I just need to go to the store and start searching! Guest guest
If you really like your cereal, just sprinkle some fiber over it, or take a fiber capsule. I don't like breakfast I the morning either, so I totally understand. Cherilyn everything looked good except the cereal Im eating. She said I need to eat a cereal with AT LEAST 4g. fiber. What about whole wheat toast? If I'm in a hurry I just eat it in the car. Ann
