Guest guest
Any white Koplik's spots in her mouth, Chelly? Is she coughing at all? Dry, chesty, loose? Is she photophobic at all? I believe measles classically starts behind the ears and around the hairline, but I may be wrong. Sadly, I have no personal experience to date - I'm beginning to wonder if my dd will *ever* get her childhood illnesses... Hope your little one is better soon. As she has diarrhoea, could it be a food allergy? Love, light and peace, Sue " Learn from the mistakes of others--you can never live long enough to make them all yourself. Guest guest
Hi Sue, thanks for replying (i'm checking emails like a maniac) she's got no white spots, I checked that, she has a large white area on her tongue but thats it. I did read somewhere that the Kopliks' spots MAY develop and they're not a MUST HAVE for measles. She had a small runny nose, but it cleared up very quickly, she's looked like she wanted to throw up once or twice, with a gagging cough, but nothing that lasted any amount of time, she perhaps just had some mucous or something going on. I'm leaning toward measles, but its so uncommon. SHe could have come in contact with someone who had a shot, as I stand outside her brothers school every day with all the other moms and little kids waiting for our other children. I've not seen anyone else with a rash. It seems so long to be food related, and then starting with a fever ruled that out fo rme. although her brother and father were both sick on Thursday last week with either a tummy bug or they ate something bad (not that they ate anything I didn't) I noticed the rash first on her forehead around the hair line, and thought at first it was a heat rash, but it started moving down her face, her eyes and nose now have the rash, and her eyes look really tired, she has a dark ring around her eyes..... (looks like bad make-up) My son is 5 years old, and hasn't had anything that I know of, he got a rash when he was 2 years old that a few people told me looked like Rubella - but it didn't last long enough for me to even worry about............... Guest guest
Chelly, the reason it *appears* to be so uncommon is because in healthy children it only lasts for a few days and sometimes they don't even get the rash... Just depending on their immune system how far this illness progresses... just my experiance. heather
Guest guest
Gillian has a lot going for her right now, she's 11 months old, never had any shots or drugs of any kind and she's breastfed.. (I had measles as a kid, so I'm passing on everything I can I'm sure)............ so she'd get something very mildly, in fact this morning it looks like the rash on her face is fading. Guest guest
If it is scarlet fever, my daughter had it in march, give her sodium ascorbate every hour 1000 mg. My daughter was done with it in about 2 days. It did come back when I stopped the C (she was uncooperative) so we went to the homeopath for the remedy. It was gone about the next day. Hard to remember exactly. She never slowed down.. Guest guest
The tongue sypmtom seems to fit scarlet fever, but the rash supposedly starts on the body not the face. Oh well, as I said, the rash has disapeared from her face and neck now, she has little pale spots on her chest, belly and back and thats all - they're very pale.
