Now I'm worried that he could get tetanus from it. He got the splinter indoors, probably on our basement stairs. It's starting to get red, and I think I got a little pus out once I actually started getting through to the splinter, but it's not all welled up with pus or anything. I'm worried. Trying not to be, but I can't help it. I just had him take a bath with epsom salts, and gave him hypericum perforatum homeopathic. It's throbbing pain and when he banged it 2 days ago at the fridge-door, the pain shot up to his shoulder for a moment. i wanted to give ledum, but he decided to go to the clinic now and they put him on antibiotics. 2 days later (today) the finger increased in size and is alomst rwice as big. red, inflammed, and i was told " ok - i give it a try " now i don't want to fail, as this might be a great opportunity to show this person, what homeopathy can do for him. I would give Hypericum 1M (or 200 at least) three 2-hourly (eg 1 at 12, 1 at 14 and 1 at 16 hrs)followed by SILICA 200 the same way (three 2-hourly ) Sil 200 will help push out any bitssplinters that may still be left in the finger? bring an abscess to a head and hopefully also clear out the antibiotica that he has been taking. Guest guest
I wouldn't worry as much about tetanus as I would about arsenic that is used to treat so many woods these days - though the amount on a small splinter is probably not too much to worry about. There are a few things that you can do to draw out these sorts of things. You can make a paste with honey and flour and put it over the splinter with a bandage and then, apply a hot cloth on top of that. Bathing also helps to draw things like this out. There are things you can buy from the chemist (I can't remember the name right now) that also have a drawing action. But honestly, in most cases the body will reject the foreign thing and it will come out by itself. There are homoeopathic remedies that you can give your son if you are really concerned which can act as a preventative for tetanus, but the chances of a tetanus infection from a splinter in a home and a healthy child (because don't forget, exposure does not equal infection) are very rare. Guest guest
Continue with the epsom 3 times daily. This will help draw it out. I know some people use a black drawing ointment, which works great too. But, since you already have epsom, just keep using it to draw it out. Guest guest
The honey and flour poultice really works, especially for drawing out any infection. My daughter had a piece of glass in her foot a while ago and I was unsuccessful at getting it out, I just took her to the doctor and he removed it (she sat still for the doctor!) and when he offered a tetnus injection I just refused, he gave me a prescription for antibiotics too, but we threw that in the bin when we got home. Once the glass was out she was fine. > I wouldn't worry as much about tetanus as I would about arsenic that is used > to treat so many woods these days - though the amount on a small splinter is > probably not too much to worry about.
