£500,000 boost for mental health Sep 20 2004

Davies, The Western Mail

MONEY for extra emergency beds for mentally ill children has been released by

the Welsh Assembly Government.

Health Minister Jane Hutt yesterday announced a £500,000 boost.

She said, " We're very concerned about the mental health of our young people

and that's why we launched Everybody's Business, our 10-year plan for

children's and adolescents mental health services in 2001. Three years into the

strategy a great deal has been achieved to raise awareness of the problems and

develop the services.

" In March this year, I announced an extra £700,000 to provide additional

primary mental health workers, to improve bed provision for young people in

emergencies and to establish Forensic Consultation Teams. "
