Guest guest
A lady on another group says that you can get salmonella from melted ice cream. Does this make any sense?! If the melted ice cream would contain it why wouldn't the frozen do the same thing? It melts after you put it in your mouth, does it not? The more I think about this, the stupider it sounds to me. But that is why I wanted to check with you all first.
Guest guest
I have heard that you can get it if the ice cream has raw egg in it. Like cookie dough ice cream. I don't think whether it has melted or not would have anything to do with it, that seems odd. I've never actually heard of anyone getting it that way, just one of those things I've heard people say. Guest guest
maybe she means if it melts enough to grow bacteria and then gets refrozen and then eaten salmonella in ice cream? > > A lady on another group says that you can get salmonella from melted ice > cream. Guest guest
Many homemade ice cream recipes call for raw egg in the ingredients. I always ask about that in homemade ice cream because I'm alergic to raw egg, so I never even thought about salmonella. That could be where the concern about salmonella in melted/melting ice cream comes from. > A lady on another group says that you can get salmonella from melted ice > cream. Does this make any sense?! Although we also don't worry so much about animals and these bacterias because their digestive systems are tougher and made to deal with these bacteria. *shrugs* Ohio )0(~~~)0(~~~)0( Mom to Brittany, born 8/31/93, dx'd-IDDM 5/28/01; , born 6/28/97; and Shayna, born 6/1/00.
