Rattlesnake vaccine. http://www.nbcsandiego.com/health/2927001/detail.html According to the article, this vaccine is supposed to protect dogs from rattlesnake bites. I'm not convinced this isn't a hoax, but since the source is NBC, it probably isn't <sigh>. This whole thing sets my teeth on edge, especially the quote from a local veterinarian. " The impression is that it definitely does not cause any harm. I've not seen any bad adverse reactions to the vaccine. " (And how closely has he looked?) This follows a statement saying the manufacturer *believes* the vaccine provides *some* protection although they don't have much data on it. I live in rattlesnake country and have shot four within feet of my house. But will my dogs ever get this vaccine? Sure, just as soon as pigs learn to fly. Anyway, just thought I'd send a head's up as to the latest assault on our dogs.
