Guest guest
Do you have any breast milk handy?? Put it in the ears! If not, our peds. (VERY natural) always told us that antibiotics are for when your body cannot handle the infection on it's own. I hate antibbiotics and rarely use them, but there are times when I thank my lucky stars I have access to them. If you are " scared " as you said, maybe it is time to consider other options. Good luck. High fever, ear infection HELP! > Hi > > My 22 month old son has had a fever for 4 days now. I think it's at 104F now. He also > has two infected ears. Guest guest
This is from my own personal experience. As a scuba instructor, I had to dive, it was my job, an ear infection greatly hindered that ability. A boat captian suggested I take diluted hydrogen peroxide (hydrogen peroxide and dilute it slightly with filtered water) and drop it into the affected ear. It sizzled and made an enormous noise, but the pain cleared up pretty quickly. I have heard of others recommending the same with good results. You may even find your child asking for more. I will forward you the post from someone with a similar experience, if I can find it. Best wishes Fern High fever, ear infection HELP! > > > > Hi > > > > My 22 month old son has had a fever for 4 days now. I think it's at 104F > now. He also > > has two infected ears. Guest guest
NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! no tylenol or anything like that!!! a fever is the body's own weapon for fighting infection, and the last thing you wanna do is suppress the fever, as that can be very dangerous! 104F is nothing too worrying. if he feels really uncomfortable, let him have a bath in tepid water. if you're still breastfeeding, pour a few drops of breast milk in his ears, this will help any infection. if not, try a little warm olive oil infused with garlic, the garlic has antibiotic qualities. if you look in the archives of this list, there are many posts for treating fever homeopathically, you may find the right remedy for your little one. hth claudia --- scottmahn2003 <smahn2003@...> wrote: > Hi > > My 22 month old son has had a fever for 4 days now. > I think it's at 104F now. Guest guest
Thanks to all for your suggestions. I'll try some ear drops. I've done some reading and am relaxing about the fever and infection, but I am concerned about his listlessness. All we wants to do is be held, but not stroked, and sleep. No food. A little water and some soy and nut milks that we give. His eye lids can hardly stay open sometimes. Even most of the alt med literature seems more concerned with such listlessness than anything else. He riminds me of me when I've had the flu really bad, but I'm usually better in about three days, this is going on 5 days for him now. Is that too long? I haven't been able to find a homeopathic remedy that totally fits his symptoms, but then he can't communicate alot about his pain and I can't really see into his ear, so I'm not able to make such a fine distinction. So far I guess Pulsitallia, Silica, and the one for flu... something with a " G " ... seems closest. Is it bad to use a composit remedy that contains a few of the usual sspects? Thanks > Hi > > > > My 22 month old son has had a fever for 4 days now. > > I think it's at 104F now. He also > > has two infected ears. I'm giving tylenol for the > > fever, but nothing or the ears. Guest guest
Hi , Sounds like you are new to the list. I don't remember hearing from you before. Welcome The concern with children is whether they are getting dehydrated. Is he drinking? How much? Is he peeing? how much. Is his mouth dry? Eyes sunken? 5 days is a little long in my opinion. Can you see a homeopath? Where do you live? Composite remedies aren't the best. Best to find the right one, but I'd rather you see a homeopath at this point, if possible, since none of us can see him. Guest guest
I do know of an excellent chiropractor in Elmwood Park, Dr. Henry Cooke. I am chiropractor myself, and I worked for him 10 years ago before I went away to school. I have a 21 month old who has been adjusted since birth, and one month ago had a mild ear infection, with same symptoms, fever of 103-104 for 4 days. We used adjustments, belladonna to keep her comfortable, and lots of nursing, and love, no drugs. I hope this helps!! > This is from my own personal experience. Guest guest
I would have already taken my child to a doctor, if he had a high fever and was listless for 5 days. And I personally would not be feeling relaxed about fever/infection if it has been 5 days. Sending healing thoughts for your little one.
