Another victim of 's legendary slowness? > I am 38, 5'5 and a half (I gotta have the half! LOL!) I'm 50 and *was* that height. Somehow over the past few years I lost my half. >and I weigh 335 lbs. Last time I weighed I was 261, and then the scale broke (a bit over a week ago), and I'm not replacing it. I'd rather go by how clothes fit, how I *feel*, other than obsessing over those numbers on a piece of machinery. > 18 and gave birth to my son. He will be 20 in July! =O gasp! Mine turned 20 this past November. It was depressing enough being the mom to a teenager, but to an *adult*?!! >Of course-I have since located most of the missing weight. That happens to most dieters - 95%, as a matter of fact. The secret is to find a "healthy eating plan" that you can follow for the rest of your life, *not* as a temporary weight loss diet. I am scared. I have heard many many ideas on how to lose this weight, as I > am sure you have too. Sigh! Most likely between all of us here we've tried everything out there. >At this point-I cannot do alot of impact excercise. I am > just too out of shape. I am going to try looking online for chair excercises > to try. Bliss has a few, and Ann mentioned in the past the Chair Dancing ones, and even has 2 of those. There's also a number of videos out there specifically for the larger woman, like More to Love Fitness, others by Bliss, and even yoga. Links to all of these can be found in our Links section: 100-plus/links/ And don't forget even the simplest thing, either dancing or walking in place to your favorite music! >But, I really have to start somewhere. Even a > little thing seems really huge to me right now. , our listowner, is always reminding us all to start with baby steps. I just reminded her of all this in an email one or 2 before this one. The same advice goes for you, and anyone else just starting out. As for finding a food plan you can live with, well, what do you like to eat? How do you want to eat in your future years? Do you like whole grains, lean meats, and can tolerate a life without sugar? Then maybe Sugar Busters would be right for you. Can you eat loads of veggies, fruits, whole grains, and live without dairy and meat? Then maybe McDougall is right. Can't stand to give up *any* of your favorite foods? Then an exchange type diet, like Weight Watcher's Points or ' FoodMover is for you. While doing your research, start making small improvements in your diet, like drinking less soda and more water; cut down on sugary snacks and eat more fruit and veggies, especially "wash & chop" salads; chose leaner cuts of meat and start eliminating or cutting down on all *my* favorites, like hot dogs, cold cuts, and fast food burgers and fries. Even small changes can bring big results, if not directly in amount of weight loss, then in your general health. > Regardless, I would very much like to be part of this list. Well, now you are. > That is me. I think some kindness and compassion would be very excellent > right now. There is alot of cruelty out there. Guest guest
Lacyanna, It hasn't come yet but I purchased on line a tape of chair exercises from . I intend to do them. Also, I would like to say my Senior Center has a class in chair exercises and if I can do them so can you. We started in a chair and weeks later she had us on our feet for 20 minutes and we didn't mind it at all. We still had the option to sit if we wanted to. No one pushes you. At 55 you qualify for membership in a Senior Center. Think about it as it is a lot of fun and all the people are in the same boat as you are and you make lots of friends. Marie New, not yet improved (Lacyanna) Hi all!Wow, I had thought I would never start getting mail from this list! What a big surprise today to come home to tons of great emails. I am 38, 5'5 and a half (I gotta have the half! LOL!) and I weigh 335 lbs. I have come to this list because I want to hear ideas from all areas. I have found that the lists that center only on one way of getting healthy are not for me. I am such the rebellion! I have been at many different weights, most of them over the norm since I was 18 and gave birth to my son. He will be 20 in July! =O gasp!I have had some huge successes. I lost nearly 200 lbs in one year. That was about 6 years ago now. Of course-I have since located most of the missing weight. I am scared. I have heard many many ideas on how to lose this weight, as I am sure you have too. Sigh!I believe my healing will begin when I am willing to do anything, something..and keep on doing it. At this point-I cannot do alot of impact excercise. I am just too out of shape. I am going to try looking online for chair excercises to try. This is sort of hard to even say, as I used to be quite a dancer, part of the drill team and so-on. But, I really have to start somewhere. Even a little thing seems really huge to me right now. :(Regardless, I would very much like to be part of this list. I read some things today that really helped me decide to speak up. Someone (sorry, I don't remember who) said that "many of us have been hounded, humiliated into trying to do something about our issues, and that hasn't worked". I am not sure it went exactly like that, but something like that! That is me. I think some kindness and compassion would be very excellent right now. There is alot of cruelty out there. The best part of being here, is I don't have to wonder if you know what I mean.I recently went to the doctor and he tried to get me to have a gastric bypass. He said "Sure, you may not think there is anything wrong with you right now, but you should consider yourself damaged, this way-you will consider the surgery sooner". Oh ..man..it was a bad feeling. One thing I do KNOW-whatever has caused this weight, would not go away with a staple. It needs something else besides cutting. Maybe it needs love. My love ..and the understanding of others. Thanks so much,Lacyanna To unsubscribe DO NOT send a message to the list. Please click on this link and unsubscribe:100-plus/join

Welcome and thanks. Kim
