Kara,

Don't give up. Hang in there. Actually you are already at my next mini goal weight. December is a tough time of year for all of us. I'm trying not to gain weight this month. I'm hoping that we are all going to be recharged to tackle our weight issues on Jan. 1. Just think how much ahead of all those other "dieters" out there with their new years resolutions. We already have a plan in place!

Let's make this last weekend before Christmas a good and healthy one!

Sheila

Dear (((Kara)))),

I hope you're in better spirits today. I have no words of wisdom other than don't give up. Your body is on it's on time schedule so quit comparing yourself to the others at your meeting. Would you be harder on the heaviest person there - would you be harsh with someone who gained - would you continue to beat up on any of the group who were already down - OF COURSE NOT - so stop beating yourself up. it's time to move on hon and we're here for you. Have you checked with a doctor because something doesn't seem right if you're following your plan. stop looking backwards and focus on the future

Another weigh in

Don't ask me how I did it, cuz I honestly don't know. I gained another 4 1/4 pounds this week. That means that, to date, I have GAINED 38 pounds this year! Aargh! How the #$)%(*#*_^)(#* & could this have happened?

Sorry if I sound ticked, but most of the weight has been gained since September. September was when I really started watching what I was eating and I was keeping food and exercise logs and everything! September was when I started back to my dance group and started doing the tapes more regularly. This is just so frustrating.

I'm definitely to the point where, if I wasn't leader of the TOPS group, I wouldn't be going. Do you know how depressing it is to be pretty much the heaviest person there?? I don't look like one of the heaviest people, but I filled in for our weight recorder tonight and seeing everyone's weight, I *AM* the second heaviest person! BTW, I currently weigh 238. Last year, at the weigh-in before Christmas, I finally hit 200 even. Two weeks later at the first weigh in of this year, I had gained 6 1/2 pounds.

I'm trying my best to be positive. I keep telling myself that in 13 days, we will be starting a brand new year (scary thought, eh?!) and that 2004 will be my year to succeed. I'll be turning 25, we'll be (hopefully) selling our house and moving to a friendlier community, and we'll be closer to family who can give us some of the support we need (like watching the kids once a week so and I can go out for a coffee, etc.) So it will be a year of new beginnings.

But I still can't help but feel miserable about this year.

Oh well, no point in bringing the rest of the group down with me. I'm going to go have a nice long relaxing bath and a cup of tea ... maybe that will help soothe this discouraged spirit.

Will write again when my mood comes up some.

Kara

>Don't ask me how I did it, cuz I honestly don't know. I gained another 41/4 pounds this week.

Been there, done that, usually found the cause when I really looked closely at what I ate and drank during the week. Usually it was something salty sneaking in, or just one more bite of a snack, or one litle second helping of a meal, or the ever popular - There's not enough to put/throw away so I'll just finish it off myself.

>September was when I really started watching what I was eatingand I was keeping food and exercise logs and everything!

I haven't been reading messages since this was sent, so maybe someone suggested this already, but why not start keeping those journals again. You're using the FoodMover, right? Are you using it religiously? Weighing and measuring everything that passes between your lips? Sticking with the correct food card?

I know you weren't able to exercise for a while there, did you reduce the amount of food you were eating during those times?

>Do you know how depressing it is to be pretty much theheaviest person there??

Hey, you're on a list for women who need to lose 100 or more pounds! Of *course* we know how it feels!

>BTW, I currently weigh 238.

Then you're still a lot lighter than many people on this list.

> I'm goingto go have a nice long relaxing bath and a cup of tea ... maybe that willhelp soothe this discouraged spirit.

Hope it helped. :)

Now go and enjoy the holidays. Eat a little bit of all your favorites as the special treats they are, but don't over-indulge. One of the worst things you can do now is over-eat for the next week because you plan on starting a weight loss diet in January. Life itself doesn't get turned off and on, so a healthy diet shouldn't either. Any successful food plan is one you can *live* with, and that means forever.

>Will write again when my mood comes up some.

Don't wait for that to happen! You may be like me and hold a grudge and lousy mood for weeks! LOL Luckily I just looked ahead and see you did write again just today, the 23rd. I hope you're feeling a bit cheerier now. :)
