We have the same concept in my church, where people can train to help if needed. We call them Ministers. Some Baptist churches have something like this too. Not every church has such a counsellor, though. Usually the way it works is that a larger church will have a few of them who are also often praticing councellors. If people need them, them will be given an appointment and the visit will probably be free of charge, especially if it is marital counselling. Guest guest
" I wonder about suffering in silence - is it > beneficial or not? " I don't think so at all. > > " I used to keep everything inside, but I also used to cut myself because > the pain inside hurt so much. " That's not good. A lot of people are doing that. I would overeat or eat candy as a drug. Sometimes I would talk to myself about my problems as though I was telling someone else. One healthy thing that helped me was to keep a journal--writing things down somehow helps a lot, as though you have expunged them. Of course, you can talk to me personally or to everyone here. " Now I am more open, now I make the effort > to reach out. It is hard and painful, but I don't want to shut down > anymore - I am scared that if I shut down fully I would never come out > again and I have to be here for my son. " This is healthy even though it feels painful--think of exercizing a muscle that is not used to exercising. It hurts to get rejected or unpleasant responses but it gets easier and it's worth it. I had the problem of being the one people came to but when I tried to talk to others they would dash away or get angry as though thinking: 'this is not the dynamics of our relationship--don't change them!' But now I have my husband, who thankfully, has a counselor-type personality and loves helping people and actually does counseling in our church. He's helped me a lot (I do the same for him and he has friends he talks to as well), whether by listening, or in practical ways, so I have energy for others again. >

Guest guest
There were a couple of Jehova's witness churches I'd observed that had no windows. They were located in Kansas so, I don't know how they look on the east coast. I heard stories about Jehova's witnesses not believing in vacation, t.v., birthdays, sports, eros, and that they have to take secrecy vows or something but, it's more than likely hocus pocus rumours from people driving past their windowless churches which shouldn't be such a big deal anyway right?. :-) I apologize for any misunderstanding generated from my question.environmental1st2003 <no_reply > wrote: Watch it Nick. :)As I think you can see, is fun nearly 24/7.Remember that everyone here has different religious belief and some don't have any religious beliefs at all.Let's try to respect everyones views even if we don't agree with them.Of course, if you are just asking the question out of genuine curiosity, then no harm done.TomAdministrator>>"I am curious , what denomination are you?" Guest guest
LOL, that's often said about us. If by fun you mean taking drugs, overdrinking, promiscuity and extreme sports, then no we don't have fun! Otherwise, I have a lot of fun. Good, clean fun with no bad side effects. > > > > " I am curious , what denomination are you?
