Cherilyn,

You're doing so great! You're losing your weight at a nice pace, you're much

healthier now than a few months ago, you feel better and look better, and

you finally feel good about yourself, so much so you want to share what

you've learned with others at church. Fantastic!

WOW Cherilyn!!

First off congrats on your weight loss!! You are doing great! :)

I'm so glad to hear that your support group went so well. It is

great to hear that you have already inspired so many and think of the

others that you will be able to inspire as they bring their friends

and relatives to the meeting!

You are truely an inspiration and have reminded me of some of the

reasons it is so important to get some more of this weight off. I

realized for the first time today that I no longer have 200+ lbs to

lose. I was filling out a " get to know you form " for a list I've

been on for about as long as I've been on here and they asked how

much you *wanted* to lose, as I thought about it I realized that for

the first time in a long, LONG time that number was under 200 lbs, it

was kind of an amazing thing.

Keep up the great work!

Thanks. BTW, I used you to an example to one lady in my group. She is so

sweet and so beautiful, but she has well over 200 lbs to lose. She stopped

me privately and told me that she found that number so overwhelming and

intimidating that she didn't even want to try it. I told her about my

wonderful friend a who kept plugging away and had lost 60 lbs. I told

her that you made the choice to go slowly and safely, and that you chose to

keep going. I told her that you worked on 10 lbs at a time like me and that

you were looking better and feeling better. I think she went away

encouraged. I know I went away with sore ribs from all the hugs. I also

told her that she didn't have to get down to 150; she just had to get

healthier. She has a lot of the same health problems that you and I have.

Anyway, you were my shining example!

WOW!! Thanks Cherilyn I guess I better keep plugging away so you can

continue to tell her about my progress huh? ;)

I think she went away

I hope she is able to look at it that way. I know that there were

time that I couldn't focus on the 10lbs, I kept focusing on the

larger amount and it was just too overwhelming. I've always heard

take it 10lbs at a time but never believed in it, I don't know what

changed but it really does make a difference. I was also reading the

other day about setting those mini goals, but not to put a time limit

on them because if you are not able to hit that goal you can end up

feeling like a failure. I guess for now I will stick with my End of

year goal, but after that I don't know that I will be setting time

frames to my goals.

I hope your ribs are feeling better today! :) I don't ever plan on

getting down to 150 lbs, I will be happy with under 300 at the

moment, and I would love to be able to say that some day I am under

200 even if it is just 199.99 lbs. I haven't been under 300lbs since

I started my freshman year in highschool, so that in and of it's self

would be an accomplishment and I'm almost halfway to that point. but

for now it's 10lbs at a time and I'm half way to my next 10lb mini

goal.

I am glad you are doing well. I went to Wednesday night church tonight, and

was ambushed by some of my group ladies. We ended up walking 2 miles with

stairs in the middle! Now, they want to make that a weekly thing! I am

cool with that. It is easier for me to walk and talk than to do it alone.

Several of them pulled me aside privately to tell me that they had been

perfectly on program for the last 3 days. Last Sunday, I gave them all a

little stack of paper turkey cut outs. Each day that they honour the

commitments they made to themselves, they get to right their names on a

turkey. On Sunday, all the turkeys will go into a drawing for a prize. I

didn't want to just reward pounds lost, because that makes plateaus even

more frustrating. Anyway, back to the point...I kept hearing people say

things like, " How many turkeys do you have? " , " I got my turkey for today! "

and " Don't eat that or you wont get a turkey for today! " (We have a meal on

Wed's) It was great to see all the good attitudes!

You keep going to encourage my friend , and then I can tell you all

about her triumphs! Maybe that will encourage you! What a cool cycle!

Best Wishes!

That is so WONDERFUL! I realized a couple of weeks ago that I had less left

to lose than I had already lost. I don't think that it was so much the

success that thrilled me, as it was knowing that I could get this far. I am

not sure I am making this clear. I mean, I never thought I could get this

far, now knowing that I can, I also know that I can go the rest of the way.

I look forward to being here the day that you realize that you no longer

have 150+ lbs to lose. You will be there before we know it. Average weight

loss for an 'on-plan' person is 2 lbs per week. At that rate, you could be

down the next 50 in just over 6 mos! You and I could go celebrate our

birthdays (in the same week) 50 lbs lighter and healthier! We lunar-landing

babies have to stick together! <GBG>

Now that *is* an ambush! LOL

Sure! And by talking, you'll be able to gauge how intensive the workout is.

If you can't talk, then you're pushing too hard.

They got the turkeys, Cherilyn, but *you* must be as proud as a peacock!

You've done good!

That is wonderful! I'm sure it'll take me a while to get there

though ;)

I understand completely! Let me see that would be in 64 more lbs so

I guess I'm about 25% of the way there. That is using the weight my

Dr would like to see me at (180lbs), but realistically I don't know

if it is possible, maybe if I just keep remembering 10lbs at time

I'll get there.

> I look forward to being here the day that you realize that you no

Hummm that would be... in 36 more lbs ;) (again using 180lbs as a

final goal)

You will be there before we know it. Average weight

hummmm never thought of that and hey I'd be almost under 300 too ;)

That would be scary! LOL... I was actually hoping to be under 300

for our 10th wedding anniversary (6-4-04) and yes, it's possible, but

I don't know that we will have any *big* plans like I was hoping

for. Financially I think we will just have to pretend it is just any

other year. Maybe we'll do a little more, but nothing like I would

like to do ;)
