Cherilyn,

That is wonderful news!! Wow 50 pounds gone--Kaput--Out of here!! Congratulations. 50 pounds makes a tremendous difference in how clothes look and feel on you. You are my inspiration! How about posting a picture of the before and after you on the website. I'm slowing edging towards 250 and will post a picture of the "new" me when I get there. I have been posting one each 25 pounds.

ARGH! You're one of *those* people! I lost 45 pounds and didn't go down even

one size. :(

I would have lost it a long time ago. Heck, I *did* go off plan when the

scale wouldn't budge even though I was eating less!

Can you explain this, please?

Thanks for posting and giving *us* the shot in the arm, too! I feel happy

for you. I also have a newfound respect for you: no cheating despite

cravings, moodswings, illness and stress since June 22!

Oh, my!

I am down 50 pounds!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The plateau is finally crossed!! I am over to the other side and the scale

is down a pound today. That makes my total loss 50 lbs and 6 dress sizes!

This has been a hard week, I have been having mood swings and food cravings.

I wanted to binge so much. However, I stood my ground and didn't cheat a

single bite. Then after being good, I would weigh in and the stupid scale

was STILL not moving. I was hung at -49 lbs for over 2 weeks. Argh! Now,

it feels SO good to see the new lower number. I still have a L O N G

'weigh' to go, but this has given me the shot in the arm I needed to feel

excited and energized again. I haven't cheated on my diet at all since June

22, but I was beginning to lose the psychological battle. Now, I feel ready

to face the next 50+ lbs.

This weekend, I was shopping with my mom. I tried on a pair of pants and

asked for her opinion. She had me turn and show her the back. She

announced in a loud voice, " Wow! Your butt is incredibly smaller! " She was

so embarrassed. She was afraid she had embarrassed me. That is not the way

she would normally say something. Firstly, she normally uses good grammar,

and she also tends to talk about heinies, rather than butts. <g> Anyway, I

was so pleased with the spontaneity of the comment. I know she really

thought I was smaller; I mean she was not just looking for a nice thing to

say to encourage me.

My blood glucose numbers have been fine. I was having a few high numbers,

but finally figured out that I just needed to add an afternoon snack to

prevent dumping. I was also having hypos in the morning, so I added an

extra protein at night. That has fixed that problem (thanks, and

Cheryl!). Recently, I found some chicken jerky by Tyson. It is low calorie

and low fat. It has more than a serving of protein for 90 calories and is

pretty good. That helps me with the protein. It is portable and doesn't

need refrigeration. I am still not big on meat, but it is more convenient

and healthier than some other options.

Best wishes to all!

I belong to 2 weight loss groups. The other one usually has an exercise

challenge going. We pick a date (usually a holiday) and decide how many

minutes we will exercise by that day. Then in the signature lines, we put

how we are doing. So, 160/500 means that my goal is 500 minutes and I have

done 160. I sent that message to both groups, so y'all got that line too.

Thanks for the congrats.

That is fantastic. We all need to learn from your example that we just need

to stick with it and the weight eventually has to come off. You persevered

and it paid off. Please tattoo that on my forehead so I don't forget it.

Hmmm.... I guess you need to tattoo it on my forehead backwards so I can

read it in the mirror every morning. :)

Thanks! A friend on another list writes a letter on her hand each day. She

writes L this is to remind her that they are going to Las Vegas and she

wants to feel sexy and be able to wear a Little Black Dress there. I have

been thinking this week about all the letters I could scribble on myself.

Some could be fairly interesting..... ;o) Her husband thinks it is odd, but

I figure do whatever it takes to stay motivated!

Have a great day!

  • 4 months later...

That's great Sue. I'm glad you're enjoying the spring weather. :) We were

freezing this morning at 37. Brrrrr..... :) Should be warm enough for a

bike ride this afternoon though. I get cabin fever when I'm stuck home with

a sick kid or whatever. Like you've said, at least you have places within

walking distance. We just don't believe in that out here in the 'burbs. :)

Take our cars away and we're done for.

Sugar Busters is going really well. Just a few incidents of mild hunger but

not that awful starving feeling. The retreat this weekend will be really

tough. Hopefully the weather will be good enough for lots of hiking. I

just have to remember how I screwed up last year and it took me so long to

get back on track.

I've been cleaning up the living room today so I'll have plenty of room for

WATP and Tae Bo Gold. The kids have already been threatened not to leave

their toys on the floor. The bedroom still isn't ready for exercise. Dh

was sick 5 days out of the last week and a half so I haven't had a

convenient time to work in there. I need to find time for that.

It's another busy week. I need to get all my school work done by Thurs.

night since I'll be gone this weekend. It's usually due Sat. night. The

rest of the month will be crazy with Vonn's birthday and my mom's hip

replacement and some other stuff. I thought things were supposed to settle

down after the holidays. :)

Gotta get back to work. One hour until I have to get Vonn.

Are you following the restricted portions (That is, dinner is only what fits

on your plate, no seconds, and only 3 meals a day with allowable snacks), or

for now, just eating only SB approved foods?

The retreat this weekend will be really

When you went on that Girl Scout camping trip, didn't you arrange back then

to have SB legal foods available? Perhaps you can do the same for this trip.

Good luck on the tae bo. I doubt I would ever be able to do some of those

kicks with my hip arthritis.

Poor baby! Did the stone ever pass?

They seldom do. There's always a bunch of stuff people push back until after

the holidays, whether it's major surgery, like your mom's hip, or a dentist

appointment.

I'm not doing so well. Yesterday was doctor day and my weight was as expected at 303. The Dyazide my cardio put me on is working and things should get better. After doctor (Primary care) yesterday I, too, pigged out for lunch. The good news is that all of my blood tests were normal - that's all of them no exceptions except my HDL is still too low at 38 but that is the only problem I have. Total Cholesterol is 172. Doctor is happy as a lark. Amazing isn't it. He said whatever I am doing to keep doing it. I have to work on breaking 300. Even my ENT doctor weighs me and takes my b.p. I delayed him until April . He gets mad when I don't come in regularly to have my ears checked and cleaned. I don't know why he has to weigh me though.

Marie in still icy land. Schools closed today.

Oh, Happy Day!

The skies are gray and the rain is slowly sprinkling down upon the landscape, so why am I happy? Because thanks to yesterday's "thaw" (it hit 33) the ice that was encasing my 2 cars melted just enough that I could get them out of the parking spaces they were cemented into since last Tuesday! This morning I spent a beautiful few hours going from store to store, parking space to parking space, grabbing some fresh fruit and veggies, exchanging videos at Blockbuster, and picking up a bunch of little things all around town.

FREEDOM!

And this warm spell (It's up to 37 now!) is going to continue for a few more days, so by the weekend all that slop outside should be washed away and all our parking spaces on this block should be available again. Yee-haa!

All the exercise I've been getting this week was walking everywhere I needed to go in the neighborhood - the drugstore, the accountant, 7-11, and so on, wearing about 10 pounds of boots, a few pounds of outer wear, and then the packages, so by the time I got back up these 3 flights of stairs I would be exhausted! Okay, so I still have the boots and heavy coat today, and I doubt the owner will ever put in an elevator so I still have those three flights of stairs to trudge up with my bags, but it's a heck of a lot better carrying those bags from the car as opposed to the deli 5 blocks away. :)

Food: I plead the Fifth on that. Yesterday I had a hungry one on so for breakfast I pigged out on hash browns, scrambled eggs, and some breakfast sausage, but lunch and snacks were my usual veggies, and Monday dinner was our regular soup & freshly baked ww bread. Earlier in the day I had made a banana bread in the bread machine, but instead of a nice lower-cal healthy loaf it was a peanut butter banana loaf (with chocolate chips, of course), which, at 250 calories a slice, totally erased any good those veggies for lunch did.

Today's food is a bit better. Breakfast was oatmeal and raisins again; banana for morning snack. I have some leftover potatoes in the fridge, so I'll have them with a vegan cheese sauce and veggies for lunch, and if there's any left over I'll use it as a dip for baby carrots as an afternoon snack. Tonight's dinner will use up leftover chicken from Sunday in a dish called Chicken Jambalaya from the Farewell to Fat cookbook 100-plus/files/Recipes/Poultry/). For tonight's snack I'll allow myself a *half* slice of the PB & banana bread and stick the rest in the freezer. Can't let it go to waste. :)

So, how are the rest of you doing today?

Unfortunately, I still take Lasix also. The one drug is not sufficient for

me.

Snip

That one is supposed to be easier on the electrolytes than the Lasix.

Hopefully you'll get things straightened out soon and you can enjoy life

outside the house again.

I should go see mine, too, but I know he's going to recommend new hearing

(sarcastic mode: on) Don't you know that every ache, pain, and illness in a

person above " average " size is caused by their excess weight? Sinus

problems, hearing loss, warts - everything! By checking your weight when he

has no reason to (unless this guy is prescribing meds whose dosage is based

by your weight) it only gives one more person an excuse to harp on you about

losing weight, and we all know how effective a dieting tool excessive

nagging is, don't we?. (sarcastic mode: off)

Snip

Hang nails too. One thing is he never nags about my weight. Actually, the

only one who does is my skinny Primary Care doctor. However, occasionally

he does sympathize also at how hard it is. My cardio doesn't have a weight

problem per se but he does have a belly and he can't get rid of it either.

He sympathizes.

I love him.
