With my weird feet, you can take 2 seemingly identical pairs of shoes and one will fit, the other won't, so I don't pre-order, pre-pay like that. > but I just prefer to wear the mens. Men's Rockports always fit better than a woman's. >New Balance cross trainers are the ONLY shoes he Maybe I *should* just bite the bullet and get them to order me a pair. I've heard from others who also swear by New Balance, but I was never brave enough to pay the price to try them. > can wear other then his custom molded custom made $1500.00 shoes. > THANK GOD the insurance covers those!!!! One woman I know with MS has the custom molded shoes like that. She used to joke around that she had to work just to pay for them. > I discovered them when they first came out in our area I never knew they *mae* the extra wide widths until people on-line told me. All our local stores said they stopped after the D width. It wasn't until I walked into one store with a handful of printouts from people like you saying Yes, indeed they *did* make wider widths when that one store made the above offer. The other 2 plain out refused, saying nobody wants them so why should they bother stocking them. Sheesh! >Is there anyone else out there > that wears New Balance? Ask that question on any of the size acceptance lists and almost everyone responds positively. Sue in NJ

Guest guest
>>We Are Located In North Jersey 459 Route 17 South Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey 07604 Gee, we're going to be right down the road from this place on Sunday, the only day they're closed (Blue laws are still in effect in Bergen County). Maybe we'll switch hubby's aunt's visit from Sunday to some weekday next week to kill 2 birds, etc. >The most sizes and widths in stock: sizes 1 to 20, 2A to 6E Yay!! There's another shoe store, Globe shoes, that carries the large sized SAS shoes that used we go to, until traffic got unbearable. Across the highway from it is their boot store - nothing but boots in all sizes, but mostly cowboy boots. I don't even know if that's still around any more, since the cowboy craze died off. >I have NO idea if it is anywhere near you, but just thought I'd post it. It's around a 45 - 60 minute drive, depending on traffic, even though it's less than 20 miles away. When Springsteen or the Giants are playing at the Meadowlands, the roads are impassable and it's impossible to get to. Thanks. Guest guest
----- Original Message ----- From: " a " <amm@...> > Soooo that is my opinion on shoes! Is there anyone else out there > that wears New Balance? I hate New Balance. I got some 755s with cool styling in an 8EE but they have big, rough seams on the side of the toe box (with a plastic strip on the outside) which hurt my sensitive big toe joint. They were very expensive but they are uncomfortable. I have some 554s in 8EE that I wear to work around the house but I had to stretch them out with a shoe stretcher to make them wide enough. They are geeky looking but were on clearance. I've ordered New Balance from here before. http://www.newbalancestlouis.com/AdvancedSearch.asp You can search by size which is what we need to do with our weird size feet. Now that they have 4E in some cool styles I'm tempted to try them again but at $75 - 110 per pair they are hard on the budget. Sue, what about Easy Spirit tennies? They run the widest of any EEs I've found and some models have cool styling. You can search by size here: http://www.easyspirit.com/index.jsp They are very nice quality and cheaper than New Balance. They have some cute black clogs in 8EE that I think I'll try. I don't even bother trying shoes on at regular stores anymore. It's just a waste of time. I just order stuff that looks good and plan to return whatever doesn't fit. It's just the cost of doing business and takes less time than going to 10 different shoe stores. Sue, do you have Nordstrum's in your area? We just got one in Houston and they carry a variety of EE shoes. Our wide shoe store is near Nordstrum's so I can check both when I need shoes. It is 40 miles away in one of the most congested parts of Houston but worth the trip occasionally. I never go to that ritzy mall to shop because it is full of expensive boutiques which aren't really my style. I'm more of a Penney's clearance person. I ***highly*** recommend Nike Air Presto's. I love these shoes! I bought 7 pairs when I found them on clearance. I'm looking for some more on ebay. They have stretchy tops with no seams to irritate sensitive joints. Skechers also makes some stretchy top shoes but I haven't tried those. The Nike's have funky styling but I kind of like since I try to avoid geeky shoes. I saw some dressy stretchy top shoes on the internet maybe Propet brand. I haven't tried those but I'm tempted. If you find the Nike's the ones with the laces are the widest. The one with the gel plastic straps were to narrow for me. I need some black shoes to wear with slacks in the fall. Maybe I'll make the trek to the wide shoe store and Nordstrum's when the kids are back in school. Ann
Guest guest
>but they > have big, rough seams on the side of the toe box (with a plastic strip on > the outside) which hurt my sensitive big toe joint. This is a problem on *many* of the sneakers I looked at, both cheap and expensive. What ever happened to plain old canvas sneaks? Okay, ad a little arch support to them and a little thicker sole, but who in the world thought adding a dozen seams to a shoe would be a good idea? >but I had to stretch them out with a shoe stretcher My mother wasted so much money when shoe salesmen would " stretch out " a shoe so my fat foot could fit into it in the store. Unfortunately, by the next morning the stretch was gone and the shoe was too tight to wear again, but since my mom just spent all that money on it and the stores have a no-return policy, I was stuck with them. My podiatrist said a lot of my foot problems would have been prevented if only I had the correct fitting shoes as a kid. Well, duh! Why weren't they returnable? Well, because the salesman always insisted the kids wear the brand new shoes immediately, go home in them, because the more you wear them the more comfortable they'll get. Yeah, and by wearing them on concrete you scuff them up and they're now officially " used " and " worn " and can't be re-sold so therefore non-returnable. They also offer to toss the kids' old shoes away right there in the store, so if they don't wear these new ones, they have nothing, in many cases. (We're a poor city.) Finally somebody got after the store owners and the salesmen are no longer allowed to push for the kids to wear shoes out the door. > Sue, what about Easy Spirit tennies? I don't think any stores around here sell them. I haven't been in the new (Oh, what's that store where the salesmen dress as referees?) but others I know have and said they don't carry the wide widths, just mostly the higher priced, stylish, sneaks the teens with money want. > I just order stuff that looks good and plan to return whatever doesn't fit. If it wasn't such a PITA to return something I would probably do that, but a trip to the post office means the entire morning is shot, first by the time I find a parking space on the street (No, no parking lot), then wait a minimum half hour on line, it's not worth it. > Sue, do you have Nordstrum's in your area? Not anywhere I can think of right now, which means not within a 45 minute drive. >I never go > to that ritzy mall to shop because it is full of expensive boutiques which > aren't really my style. I'm more of a Penney's clearance person. Same here. We *do* have 2 ritzy malls about an hour's drive away (right next to each other, too), but we haven't been to either of them in all the years we're married. Way too expensive, and the traffic is murder, literally. I think that intersection has the highest fatal accident rate in the state. >I bought 7 > pairs when I found them on clearance. Where do all you people find these shoes on clearance? None of our shoes stores ever have a clearance sale except for Payless, and with very few department stores, none of which have wide widths, I've never seen shoes on any major sale. Oh, I lied. One store, the most expensive shoe store in the city, does have a clearance rack. It's all the shoes that are either funky from someone's non-clean feet, really scuffed up from being on display, or irregulars. At most there's 10 pairs of shoes at any given time. They are geeky looking but were on clearance. I will admit some of their shoes are geeky looking. I have a gray pair that have some funkey green on them. I honeslty don't know exactly where they are because I wore them for almost 2 years before throwing them in a box somplace. I almost forgot I had them. But really they need to be in the trash and no place else! > > I've ordered New Balance from here before. > > http://www.newbalancestlouis.com/AdvancedSearch.asp > > You can search by size which is what we need to do with our weird size feet. > Now that they have 4E in some cool styles I'm tempted to try them again but > at $75 - 110 per pair they are hard on the budget. We have a local grocery store (much like a super walmart) that sells several styles and they currently have them at 25% off so I can get a pair for about $50. I really hate paying that much for shoes, but they do last better *for me* then payless shoes that fall apart in 3 months time. Now that my feet are bigger I can't even get shoes at payless. At one time one of the local stores carried a size 13, but not anymore > I ***highly*** recommend Nike Air Presto's. I love these shoes! I bought 7 > pairs when I found them on clearance. I'm looking for some more on ebay. Does Nike have the wider sizes? Last I looked they didn't have 4E, but it has been a while since I went looking for anything other then new balance. Then again the Nike were normally more expensive. > > I need some black shoes to wear with slacks in the fall. And they carry 4E shoes? Wow. I live in a huge city and I can't buy 4E shoes anywhere. > Does Nike have the wider sizes? No. The Nike Air Prestos are off the rack normal width. The beauty is that the top is a stretchy fabric (either mesh or lycra kind of stuff) and they fit any width. I just happened to try some on when I was shopping with a friend. Dunno why since I can never wear shoes from a regular store. I love them. > I just stick with my newbalance 608's Mens black 12 4E LOL... Oh > well... best of luck with your shoe hunt! How tall are you? What if you want to dress up a little? I go to meetings 3 times a month and I like to dress up just a little. Also when going to church. Last night I wore my new blouse to book club and I felt good. I was annoyed that dh didn't mention it since I did my hair and wore a little make-up. Yep. One of those what were they thinking sort of things. Let's take an expensive pair of leather and nylon shoes and add a plastic strip over the most sensitive part of the foot. Argh. > My mother wasted so much money when shoe salesmen would " stretch out " a shoe > so my fat foot could fit into it in the store. I saturate the area of the shoe with shoe stretch stuff, crank the stretcher as wide as it will go, and leave it for a few days. Sheesh. It just shouldn't be this hard to find comfy shoes. > If it wasn't such a PITA to return something I would probably do that, but a > trip to the post office means the entire morning is shot, first by the time > I find a parking space on the street (No, no parking lot), then wait a > minimum half hour on line, it's not worth it. But how long did you spend going to two malls and 10 stores? I don't even bother looking for shoes at the mall anymore (besides the Nikes). > Where do all you people find these shoes on clearance? I found the Nike Prestos on clearance at Foot Locker and I went to 4 locations to buy more colors. I need to get on the mailing list for our wide shoe store. I lucked out and happened to go when they had buy a pair of sandals and get one for half price. Vonn wants to use the computer so I gotta run. I guess we just have a widefooted community Like I said it is much like a super wal-mart so they carry everything clothes, and sportingoods, outdoor stuff... all the junk you could want.. They have been around since the late 60's. > How tall are you? I'm 5'10 " , which is GREAT considering my weight! I just wish I was taller so since it's what 10lbs per " or something like that for size differences. so if I was 6' I could weigh 20lbs more and no one would know the difference But then again I'm already taller then my husband by 2 " What if you want to dress up a little? I go to meetings > 3 times a month and I like to dress up just a little. That would present a problem.. but I did find a shoe compnay (that went out of business shortly after) that sold 14WW and I bought a pair of dress casuals for those occasions and they are put up other then that! I > was annoyed that dh didn't mention it since I did my hair and wore a little > make-up. I *hate* it when men do that!!!!! My husband does it all the time and then at the end of the day I will say something to him in an irritated tone about how at least *I* thought I looked nice, or that one of the girls said now nice I looked. Normally that'll get some small comment, but not always. *sigh* MEN! a

Ya think that's bad? MOST of the larger 13 and 14 size shoes are made for transvestites (sp) and dragqueens so they are 5 " spikes..
