Hi I go to a bariatric doctor to lose weight. She is excellent. we have changed my plan from a diabetic exchange plan to 3 moderate meals a day and one small snack at night. Heavy on fruits and veggies and not quite as heavy on white bread and flour. Sugar is a rarity. I think this will help me abe less crazy with it. Food is constant on my mind when I follow a strict plan and I am constantly worried about how I am able to fit the foods in and go off it like crazy when I can't. Don't know if this is a help to any one else but it is a godsend to me. I ha ve just started this plan since yesterday but already my nerves have calmed down. I am not near a basket case as I was. Peace pat

Pat,

This sounds wonderful. Read what you just wrote! Look what you have given yourself. Or you and your doctor have given yourself! Its a healthy way of looking at food and a way of looking at it for a lifetime.

Good for you!

Relax and be glad you're progressing towards your goal well enough to get

off the super strict plan an onto this one. Congrats!

  • 6 months later...

I cleaned out my cupboards and gave away all

> the foods we can't have anymore.

, I am with you all the way on this one!

I was the one who posted I cannot have Halloween candy in the house,

or I will eat it. And I am the same way about anything else that

packs loads of calories in very little space; i.e., cake, fatty

stuff, you know the drill.

My cupboard is packed with cans of Healthy Choice soups; cans of veg;

regular popcorn; stuff like that. Freezer is packed with bags of

frozen veg (well, and a few popsicles if I really have to have

something). Ice-box packed with loads more veg. So when those late-

night munchies call, I might have a can of soup; or a salad; or an

entire bag of frozen veg. It really has kept me on-track (well, most

of the time; perfect I'm not . . .)

Today's sweets for me? The two or three Viactivs I chomp down daily

for my calcium. It really does help satisfy my sweet tooth. And I

do not eat more than the two or three; they are only 20 calories each

and they do taste great.

Hi there,

A message that Sue replied to struck a chord with me. Sue said."

> Snack> Slimfast barIf you truly enjoy these, fine, but you can get a lot more *real* food foryour 220 - 250 calories, even an entire PB & J sandwich and a piece of fruit.

I have never understood the whole slimfast bar or shake thing. Why not put those calories towards REAL food? Is it because they are full of nutritional goodies?

I can see the attraction to them for someone on the go in a very busy job

who doesn't get a chance to grab a real lunch break. Most of my working days

were spent like that, eating on the run, taking a bite of my sandwich in the

breakroom as I ran to the toilet before having to run back out again.

At 220 or more calories it's a bit high for a snack, but as a meal

replacement, which is what those Slimfast Bars are supposed to be, they

can't be beat.

That is exactly the way it is for me too. I just can't have this stuff in

the house. And I take Viactivs too. This way I know I am getting that

calcium. I am starting to have a glass of skim milk each night with my

dinner and if I want a snack I may have one then. I try to drink a glass in

the morning but it doesn't always happen. My biggest problem is all the free

stuff I get with cpns that I am addicted too. So now I just give the stuff

away if I can't have it. I just can't pass up a bargain now days. I am a

refunder and love to get free stuff. As for candy, I tried the sugar free

stuff, which isn't bad, but it did not agree with me at all. I know exactly

how many flowers that are on my bathroom wall paper. in NY
