Guest guest
Well, I lost 6.5 lbs this week. The first 4 days were easy; the next 2 were basically a flop but not as bad as the past. Yesterday was a so-so day. I managed to avoid all Coke except 20 oz. on Friday. Not bad considering DH came home and said his factory is laying off and his job could be in jeopardy. His union has been working without a contract since Oct. and things have gone down hill. Just means I have to figure out how to reduce our budget even more. I also managed to exercise. I figured the 3 days were better than no days. I purchased the Walk Away the Pounds for ABS and did that for 2x. It was challenging and very easy to follow. (Thanks to those of you who recommended it.) I also purchased one of Austin's Pilates videos. I can do very little of it but it definately works the abs and mine have apparently been sleeping for years. Things I learned this week: Planning is very important--makes it harder to deviate from the plan Exercise can feel good even if a 9 month old is chasing you around Some diet soda tastes ok Measuring out food can be an eye-opener Knowing that other people struggle with weightloss is comforting Hope everyone else is having a good week. Guest guest
> Well, I lost 6.5 lbs this week. The first 4 days were easy; the next 2 were Looks like a pretty good start. > DH came home and said his factory is laying off and his job could be in> jeopardy. His union has been working without a contract since Oct. and> things have gone down hill. Just means I have to figure out how to reduce> our budget even more. ACK!!!! At least the Files section has a bunch of vegtarian recipes. Beans are traditionally cheaper than meat. And soups and casseroles are always a good choice. When Ed was laid off/early retirement 3 years ago when his army base was closed, one book that kept us going was the More with Less Cookbook, by Dorothy Janzen Longacre and put out by the Mennonites. There are all kinds of hints to keep your food budget down and loads of recipes not only using beans and veggies but meat, also. And of course the Tightwad Gazette books were a big help, too. > I also managed to exercise. I figured the 3 days were better than no days. Some weeks I'm lucky to get in even 3 days. > I purchased the Walk Away the Pounds for ABS and did that for 2x. It was> challenging and very easy to follow. How is this different than the regular WalkAerobics tapes? Is there floor work or other individualized/spot exercises? > Things I learned this week:> Planning is very important--makes it harder to deviate from the plan I've been preaching this for a while now. > Exercise can feel good even if a 9 month old is chasing you around At least you give the baby a good show while doing them in front of the tv. It's better than Barney and TeleTubbies rolled into one. LOL > Some diet soda tastes ok I haven't liked diet sodas since the original Tab switched from saccharin to Nutrasweet. I tried some of the Splenda sweetened ones and they're just *too* sweet for me. > Measuring out food can be an eye-opener That one third cup of rice just seems to disappear on the plate, doesn't it? > Knowing that other people struggle with weightloss is comforting Misery loves company. > Hope everyone else is having a good week. This is the last week I have my kid around the house again until Spring Break, so I've been putting him to work, carrying groceries, vacuuming, and all the other ways I can think of to make him earn his spending money. I'm gonna miss him next Tuesday when I have to carry my own laundry upstairs again. Sue in NJMoney can't buy happiness, but it sure makes misery easier to live with.
