Guest guest
Message of the Day YOUR KITCHEN IS CALLING When I was just a precocious kid, my bedroom was next to the kitchen. Do you think that had anything to do with my weight problem? Anyway, I was 20 feet away from the fridge. I measured it. If I couldn`t get to sleep, it would only take seconds to get something to eat. My demon? Sandwiches. How about you? Yes, your kitchen is calling you, not to tempt you this time, but to plead with you to throw out all the fattening stuff and fill it with healthy stuff. Here`s what I want you to do today. I want you to empty out your freezer. Take it all out, look at it all, and only put in items that will help you be healthy. Real ice cream? Out! Pork chops that are now two years old? Out! The fattening TV dinners? Out! Look through the fridge. All those high-fat salad dressings? Get rid of them and substitute oil and an assortment of vinegars like raspberry, rice, wine, and balsamic. The real butter? Out! Margarine and butter sprays? In! Take candy bars and snacks out of the crisper, and put in lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, green beans, spinach – all that rabbit food. Look in the cupboards. Cream soups and canned pasta entrees must be removed. Stock up on fat-free chicken broth, vegetable broth, and cans of whole, skinless, vine tomatoes. Look around the kitchen. Put that the fryer away! Get rid of all those boxes of doughnuts and packaged cookies. Are those bags of potato chips on top of the fridge? Get rid of them! What cereal are you eating these days? Open up and look. Fruit Loops? Frosted flakes? Or almond, coconut, dried apricots, chocolate chip, and sugarcoated raisins granola? Off with their box tops! Food that has already been opened has to be thrown out. Canned goods that you won`t use anymore should be taken to a church or homeless shelter. It`s not a waste of money giving them away. You`ll be doing yourself a favor and helping others at the same time! Don`t put off this major job. Only when it`s done will you feel more confident to enter your kitchen that is there to keep you on program. Wait! Do you hear that? I think I hear the pots and pans applauding!
