Guest guest
Message of the Day THOSE LITTLE TALKS Sometimes I wish I had a twin. Then there would be two of me to do all this work. I`m up at 4:30 in the morning, and I get to bed a little after 11:00 PM. The list of things I have to do seems endless, and yes, I`m a perfectionist. There are times when the alarm clock goes off, and I just don`t want to get out of bed, but then I give myself a little talk. “, you have a very hectic day in front of you, so let`s get up and rise and shine!” And you know what? I do! I bounce up, do my stretches, and head for the shower. Sometimes I don`t feel very hungry in the morning and just want to drink my water and take my vitamins, but then I give myself a little talk. “, you have to start your day in a healthy way, so march down to the kitchen, make yourself an Egg Beater omelet, have a few pieces of light toast and a half a grapefruit.” And you know what? I go down and fix myself a nice breakfast! I head to the office and find stacks and stacks of letters and e-mails. Sometimes it`s overwhelming, and I sort of panic. How am I going to answer all of these? How am I going to get through this day? Then I give myself a little talk. “, you`ve been doing this for umpteen years! Go sit down at your desk and open the letters one at a time.” And you know what? I do, and much to my amazement, I get through all the work in front of me! As I wind up my day, I sometimes think to myself, “, you didn`t do enough today. You could have done more. You are capable of doing twice as much.” Then I realize I am only one person, and I did my very best. We all have moments when we doubt ourselves or don`t want to do things that we know we should. That`s when those little talks with yourself are so very helpful. So don`t be afraid to have those conversations with yourself. If you don`t have them, who will?
