Guest guest Posted January 16, 2004 Report Share Posted January 16, 2004 Hi . I also have a 4 month old baby (born September 15) and people always comment on how alert and happy she is too. She is *always* happy, always smiling. She also has not been vaxed and never will be. I also have a 3 year old daughter who is unvaxed. When she was born the pediatrician tried scaring me into vaxing her. I refused any vaxes. He refused to sign her birth certificate which still really irritates me. I was alone at the time he came in and talked to me. I called my dh at home in tears and told him if they came in to my room and talked vaxes again and he was there that he needed to stand behind me 100%. I am so glad my dh wasn't in the room or after hearing what that doctor said, my dh wouldn't have " made " me vax our children. My dh believes in vaxes, I don't *at all*. Actually, to be honest, after hearing what the ped said to me in the hospital, I thought for a *split* second maybe I was doing something wrong by *not* vaxing my daughter. Had I not had the research I had, I probably would've given in. I can imagine how a new mom with no info feels and can easily see how they get pressured into vaxing their children. I know there are others on this list that have spouses that feel the opposite way about vaxes. I have told my dh to do the research as I have and then we will discuss vaxing our children. He won't do the research and part of the reason I'm sure is because he knows there is absolutely, positively *no* way I'm vaxing our children. I keep telling him it wouldn't even be done over my dead body! LOL! He knows there is no compromise on it. I also deal with the doctors if we need them (which we haven't) and I will deal with the schools when it comes time to do that (next year). I'm praying that I don't have to go through what my parents did to get me in school (I'm also unvaxed). Good luck, you will find a lot of info on this board and glad you have joined. Actually, I was going to put in my post that I would leave my husband before I vax my kids!! LOL! I would too! I know that sounds really, really bad but I could always find a new husband - not that I want to, but yes, my children come first - in *everything*. My husband and I don't fight over this ~ he'll roll his eyes at me when I say something about it, but he usually keeps his mouth shut! (Smart man, huh - I say that because he knows he *will not* win on this and we would fight all day about if he starts talking about the " pros " of vaxes!) I do have the support of my parents and brothers though who are also very anti vax. The emails I get from this list every day too also remind me that I *am* doing what is best for my girls. I am in Iowa, religious exempt only. My parents had a difficult time getting me in and my brothers into school. That was around 25 years ago too and I'm sure it's even more difficult now.
