Guest guest
Please those of you interested post your letter to 48 hours regarding PRIME SUSPECT. The case of Fox who was accused of Shaken Baby Syndrome in the death of his son. The e-mail address is 48Hours@... Put in the subject space: Prime Suspect. Thank you . Debbie Grater These are letters posted about the program. If only every one felt this way: 48 Hours Investigates: Prime Suspect Jan. 14 at 10 p.m. ET/PT I can't imagine the pain that Cassie has endured. How could they not let her be with her newborn baby? The arrangement where she had to sleep in her van to breastfeed was the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. And she had to go to that community center just to see her son, Peyton. She was not on trial here; Fox was. As a new mom, it is very scary to think of the power the government has to take your children away from you, even if you are not at fault. I don't know whether he is guilty or innocent, but Cassie should not be punished just for believing in him ... When I was watching this story, I went three times to check on my 6-month-old son sleeping. This was truly every mother's worst fear. -- What a tragedy for the Fox family. I hope they can move on over this. They are quite the family and have a lot of courage and strength. It would seem to me if this were true shaken baby syndrome, there would have been other indicators on other parts of the body -- finger marks on the arms and shoulders, detached brain or broken bones. Clearly, from what you presented, this was not the case. It's unfortunate that anyone has to go through this, but that's what happens in a witch hunt from social services and the law regarding child abuse ... Good story and one that clearly needs to be told more. -- Steve I am floored that our judicial system is the way it is. I am floored no one has even dared to look at the doctors who claimed that fateful Friday night that small baby boy was OK after a head injury. I find it ironic that society and the law think all doctors know all and all experts know all. I believe in these people and that says a lot, considering I don't normally feel that way over a news story. -- Not only do I believe the parents to be innocent, but I also think that they should have investigated the hospital's liability in the death of the child. It would be a different matter if the family would not have taken the baby to the hospital on Friday. Did they not do any tests on the boy? This story is a tragedy for all of the family. That poor woman sleeping in the van and feeding her son; the other children losing a brother and having another brother live elsewhere; the man going on trial for his freedom. I do not blame him [ Fox] in the least for taking the plea bargain. If he truly knew he was innocent, he would have too much to lose in trusting his freedom to 12 other people to decide. -- I am left with a bitter taste in my mouth after watching this story. I cannot believe that the mother was made to suffer to the extent that she did due to the acusations against her spouse. As far as I could see, the police never did bring charges against her in her son's tragic, and in my opinion, accidental, death, so what gave Children's Social Services the right to launch their own investigation against her? They have a duty to protect the best interests of children. But this poor woman suffered needlessly. -- I am outraged at how quick the system made Fox guilty. My heart goes out to Cassie Herring and Fox. What times do we live in when we can no longer believe in our system? The corruption and egos are overwhelming. We give too much rope to people who are not capable of making these life-shattering decisions. -- Janine I hope this nice family will be able to at least on some level put this unfortunate miscarriage of justice to rest. After hearing differing opinions of the medical " experts " and listening to 's story, I am convinced that Cameron suffered a tragic accident on that fateful Friday. I would love to have seen fight for his innocence, but I certainly understand why he took the plea bargain. The legal system does not always work the way it should. -- I can't believe what the Texas court system did to that family. It is terrible. I believe the hospital was negligent. That baby had internal bleeding and swelling of the brain from the fall. They let murderers - women in jail - have their kids, and not a loving, devoted parent have their child. Why is it OK at first to take the baby away from the family and then later OK to give him back? I felt deeply saddened for the parents and the children. The system was abusing the children in this case. Maybe their brains have been shaken. -- Cathleen This is the first time I've been compelled to respond to such a report on TV. I felt compassion for Cassie and Fox. I've spent many years in the health industry, including neurosurgical nursing, and understand clearly that brain injuries are not an exact science. What disturbs me more is the arrogance of both the local CPS and the medical examiner, Dr. Marc Krause. They are certainly people with blinders on and unable to look outside the " box " -- and unable to admit when mistakes are made. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to look at the individual histories and recognize that this couple loved their children. -- Dana It is so frustrating to see what happens in this country with the interference of government offices. Lives can be turned upside down based on certain peoples' beliefs and theories. Watching your program last night made me so angry. I had no doubt that this man was not guilty of what he was accused. You could see in his face the emotions he had towards these children and the other children in his life. I hope he and his wife can get over this ordeal and go on with their lives. -- Lemonia
