Some cameras have a timer where you can set it and it'll take the picture about a minute later. This quote doesn't really pertain to this dilemma exactly but it's one I like from Bill concerning people who don't want to take before pictures. I don't see how you could take them yourself, unless you had a tripod and a cable to trigger your shutter button.
