Given how doctors went mad removing them 30-40 years ago, I wouldn't be surprised in the least if this doesn't have some bearing on all the auto-immune disease around. Bit like removing tonsils, the first line of defence against respiratory infections. These bits don't exist for fun, but doctors have yet to figure that out. The spleen is involved (iirc) in the destruction and processing of white blood cells which neutralise or digest invading bacteria and viruses. I don't believe that there is any replacement for the activity it conducts. I once knew someone who had an enlarged spleen which had to be removed and she was prescribed a/bs each time she got an infection. While homoeopathy can never compensate for the removed spleen, I do believe that it can massively improve the constitution and thereby reduce the risk of picking up bugs in the first place. But then again, I don't view bugs the way I used to...I see them now as positive and something to be welcomed, up to a point. I must remember to tell that to my poor dd, who is having yet *another* run of coughs and colds! Guest guest
I had an appendicitis attack years ago and mine was removed. Haven't had any problems since. Does it play a roll? Guest guest
Hey, Sue....you got someplace to refer me to for this info on the appendix? This could very well explain why my husband still has pain in the area from which his was removed. Also, information on how this gets " bloated " and " explodes " would be great! Guest guest
My father had his spleen removed three weeks ago and is now on PERMANENT!!! LIFE-LONG antibiotics...This was secondary to a perforated stomach ulcer due to either helicobacter pylori or apsirin ( cardiac ) And no he wouldn't lsiten to me when I told him about everything I had learned as I am not as MD. :-(( Re: Re: Spleen removed > > Hey, Sue....you got someplace to refer me to for this info on the appendix? > This could very well explain why my husband still has pain in the area from > which his was removed. > Also, information on how this gets " bloated " and " explodes " would be great! > Kimberley > > > Yes, the appendix is part of the immune system - it helps manufactures the > > good gut bacteria that are so essential for health and that are knocked > out > > by antibiotics. Guest guest
Hi Sheri, My father is at Prince in Llanelli. Life-long antibiotics is to protect the individual against bacterial infection as he no longer has the spleen. That's the line I was given. My 5'10 father looks like a male version of Mother Theresa and now weighs less than I do. He has since his op developed a very bad gout, then a very bad DVT and now has 10 days of the runs. He is on a milky diet to build him up!!! Can you believe that? They have never heard NO MILK p.o. and BRAT diet for diarrhea. I just shake my head in disbelief. I am so disgusted with the medical professionalism in the UK. I was scoffed at for suggesting a mineral and vitamin IV cocktail which is pretty well de rigeur here in Germany and France. And two days after his very serious op he was given a jab against pneumonia. I think they might have given him it in the ICU. You know just to prop up his immune system. Sheesh..why didn't they just put a bullet in his head. And he is in constant tears because he is convinced he will die.
