Socialist MSP Carolyn Leckie said the move was necessary to ease parents' fears about the safety of the controversial jab, which gives protection against measles, mumps and rubella. Her proposed Single Vaccinations for MMR (Scotland) Bill has the support of 12 other MSP's. Some medical experts have raised fears that it can cause autism among youngsters, but the Executive has rejected their claims and continued to encourage parents to use the MMR jab. The proposals come after figures published last week showed that MMR take-up rates have incresed in the three months to the end of September.
