Guest guest
Off Topic a bit, I am about 15 weeks pregnant and have 2 boys, 4 (mostly vaxed) and 2 (mostly unvaxed). In the last week we have been exposed to pneumonia by 3 different family members. I have no way of knowing if it is bacterial or viral because they all went to the local ER's and were given antibiotics without question. We are planning a Christmas visit to my 77 y.o. grandmother (prett yhealthy though) and my mother who had lung cancer and partial removal of one lung last year. Aside from obvious concerns about my pregnancy and my boys, I am more concerned about transmitting anything to mom and grandma. I have tee tree oil in the humidifier tonight and I gave them each 1,000 mg. Vit C today. Aside from that I do not know what to do. How much vit C can I take/should they take? Is there any other suggestions out there? I know very little of homeopathy...is this an option for us? I will cancel the trip if needs be, but I am guessing we can avoid this altogether, since we seem to be able to handle most illnesses we have encountered pretty well. My kids rarely get " sick " . Thanks! Jami Naperville, IL
Guest guest
Mainstream information (including a reference to the Prevnar vaccine -- yuck!), but discusses contagiousness of pneumonia: http://www.askdrsears.com/html/8/T083800.asp -

Who knows what they have.........do they really have pneumonia? and as you said we don't know what caused by and if antibiotics were needed. > >We are planning a Christmas visit to my 77 y.o. grandmother (prett yhealthy though) and my mother who had lung cancer and partial removal of one lung last year. >Aside from obvious concerns about my pregnancy and my boys, I am more concerned about transmitting anything to mom and grandma. it is really hard to say I don't know the answer for you > >I have tee tree oil in the humidifier tonight and I gave them each 1,000 mg. I'm not a fan of tea tree oil - really over done. 1000 mg of vit c is not much in the grand scheme of things - were you able to read the Vit C info I posted a few days ago I wouldn't do anything with homeopathy until you are sick and have symptoms, if you even get sick > >I will cancel the trip if needs be, but I am guessing we can avoid this altogether, since we seem to be able to handle most illnesses we have encountered pretty well. If you are using true medicinal grades of eo's, then you *may* antedote the homeopathic remedy. I know you have to be careful when you use eucalyptus and may have to watch using stronger oils like cinamon, clove, pine, thyme and possibly tea tree. I personally enjoy my medicinal eo's and know that diffusing lavendar (the bulgarian variety) helps in clearing the air and is a bit milder than tea tree.
