Mahavacsera had identified a site in Bio Valley, Dengkil, near here to set up its laboratory and manufacturing facility estimated to cost RM80 million, Mahabiofarma (M) Sdn Bhd's executive chairman, Datuk Dr Sidek Nontak, told reporters here today. Mahavacsera is 70 percent owned by Malaysia-based Mahabiofarma and the balance by Egypt-based Vacsera Plc. The formation of the joint venture company was witnessed by Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Mohamad Khir Toyo here Wednesday. Vacsera Plc is one of the largest vaccine producers in Egypt. It has been in existence for 108 years and has established markets in 30 countries mainly in Africa and West Asia. Dr Sidek said the construction of the laboratory and manufacturing plant would start next year. He said Vacsera would second their personnels to assist Mahavacsera in the technical aspects. Initially, Mahavacsera would market 15 vaccines and biological products under Vacsera Malaysia brandname, he said. " We will retain the Vacsera name as it is already an internationally recognised brandname, " Dr Sidek said. Among the products to be produced and marketed are human monocomponent insulin, erythropoietin, medical test kits and diagnostics and vaccines including mumps, measles and rubella, meningococcal and influenza. Dr Sidek said the market was huge for such products in the Asian region given a high birth rate and health requirements. For the Malaysian market alone, he said, it was estimated to account for RM250 million annually. Meanwhile, Vacsera's chairman, Dr Mohamad El Abbadi, said Vacsera was satisfied with the stakeholding in Mahavacsera. " We have 30 percent. We like it because we want to be with you, " he said. He hoped the production facility here could be utilised to cater vaccine requirements of 1.2 billion Muslim ummah all over the world. My tact these days is to simply share the real difference between vaccinated children and unvaccinated ones. Must write more on this for our newsletter.
