Guest guest
With the temps expected in the mid-90's today and the only air conditioner in yet is in the kid's bedroom, I don't expect to get much exercise in. Today is also the kid's asthma doc day, and the closest we can usually park is about a quarter mile away down a steep hill, so at least I can get some hiking in. Food: Not really hungry, but will be eating a (ff veg) cream cheese and all-fruit jelly on 12-grain toast for breakfast, maybe another veggie burger for lunch. Snacks will be fruit and maybe some pretzels later for the salt, if nothing else. Dinner is spagetti and vegetarian " meat " balls. Easy to make and with the exhaust fan in the window it should heat the house up too much. Usually in this heat we would just order a pizza from the local pizzeria, but the last time we did the thing was swimming in grease and almost inedible. Don't forget to keep hydrated today, especially those of you in the heat affected areas. Sue in NJ
Guest guest
Well Sue, while you are sweltering in NJ, we have overcast skies and a chance of rain here in the San Francisco area. It rained last night. We need the water, so I am not complaining, and my honeysuckle and jasmine plants are going crazy. Today's plans Breakfast: Breakfast polenta-made with water and oj. Served with 100% maple syrup with a little oj added to it. Very good. I was surprised. Lunch: Stuffed mushrooms, leftover stuffed cabbage (brown rice, currents, mint-I grow myself, and a little bit of pecans) Dinner Gnocchi with herbed tomato sauce, stuffed zucchini, salad Snack orange and apple Last nights dinner: We had the above mentioned stuffed cabbage leaves, with a avgolemono sauce-made with tofu, lemon juice, liquid aminos, garlic and seasonings, hummus (freshly made), whole wheat pitas, Greek salad-tomatoes, onions, green pepper, cucumber tossed with fat free Italian dressing. Needless to say, when the girls and Ed sat down to the table-they were, um, less than thrilled. So as Ed said the blessing, I started to giggle. He looked at me afterwards and I said that I knew while he was saying the blessing he was thinking " please Lord let this dinner be edible and not make us sick " . He laughed and said he was. So we all watched him intently while he took the first bite. He nodded and said that is not bad. Then he ate two helpings. The girls tried it...then ate ramen. They did eat the hummus and pita bread and some salad. Oh well....not bad for spending a couple of hours in the kitchen (I cooked some stuff ahead for the week too) (whose husband put the scale some place and I cannot find it yet...maybe that is a good thing) ---------------------------------
