I just read a report from the Associated Press talking about obesity. It seems everyone is talking about obesity, and everyone`s still trying to find what the major culprit is. Most people believe it is processed foods and fast foods, from Pop Tarts for breakfast to Buffalo Wings at lunch to a Whopper for dinner. Sounds good, doesn`t it? I love fast food! Talk about instant gratification. But I don`t believe it`s the major culprit. The major culprit is being sedentary. Not too long ago, the world was different. People walked to work or took a horse. Well, that doesn`t happen too much anymore, does it? We just get in the car or on the bus and sit there. Years ago women stood outside and hung their laundry. The sun could dry it, and wow, did it smell fresh! Now we stick it in the washer and dryer while we`re watching television. Before the telephone, people could reach other people in just one way – by going to see them – but that doesn`t happen too often because of the telephone and the computer. Yes, we are very sedentary. We are the “Sitters` Society”. I truly believe that`s why Americans are so overweight and obese! Think about your lifestyle. Can it be more active than it is right now? Can you move around more in the morning – not that I want you to read the newspaper standing up – but can you get out of bed and move around your place? Whether you`re at work in your home or in an office, you get breaks. Don`t sit there on your break; move around! I think every office should have a stack of hula-hoops! That`s one way to get America`s waistlines smaller! When you return home, can`t you do something active? Can`t you take a walk? It`s the biggest stress reliever, you know. At nighttime before you go to bed, can`t you move that body of yours before it`s gonna lie down for all those hours? That`s when a good exercise library filled with tapes can help you! You have stretching, yoga, aerobics, and toning at your very fingertips! Now I don`t want you to move around in bed. I want you to go to sleep! If you want to see a difference in your energy level and your weight, you`ve just gotta move more and put a little “umph” behind your moving. Make it count! I hope today you will have time to do 30-45 minutes of something aerobic. Don`t slack off over the weekend. Remember, you`re on a mission – a mission to be a better you! Thanks for watching me on QVC! I hope you truly enjoyed the beauty of these dolls. Have a good Friday! Love,
