Guest guest
THE DINNER HOUR 11/10/2001 Dinner. What a beautiful word! It was sacred in my home. Those were the days when the entire family ate together, something very rare here in the twenty-first century. For most, the dinner hour has become the dinner hours. We take pride in sitting down and dining, but for most of us, the dinner hour or hours are what keeps us from getting to our weight-loss goal. I never had a problem with breakfast or lunch. It was that third meal of the day, the grand meal of dinner. Now what happens to our control at dinner? It simply just goes out the window. Well, after a long, hard, stressful, crazy day, we all think we deserve the dinner of our choice. Do you realize if you just curbed your appetite during dinner, you could lose weight so easily? Let`s go to appetizers first. They`re small, they’re cute, and for the most part, they`re deadly, like little crepes and quiches, little Jeno Pizza Rolls, and cheese and crackers galore. It really isn`t worth it, because a few appetizers become a mini dinner. The majority of appetizers that please our palates are fried. That`s so much wasted fat! Why, you could inhale 20 grams of fat before the meal is served! Right now, try to cut your appetizers out. Start with your salad, and I know you`re tired of hearing me say this, but watch the dressing. That could be another 20 grams of fat before the entrée. Try sliced tomatoes and cucumber and onion with a little balsamic vinegar. How about a chopped spinach salad? Mix up a teeny bit of oil and vinegar and heat it and turn it into a warm spinach salad like the fancy French restaurants serve. When you`re fixing dinner, make sure you fix 2 brilliantly colored vegetables like shredded carrots with a teeny bit of brown sugar and cinnamon or fresh string beans or broccoli. Try smaller potatoes and yams. Make sure your meats are extremely lean, and don`t eat too much red meat, okay? For dessert, try sliced fresh fruit. If you take some of my suggestions, you will lose weight every single day and learn that dinner doesn`t have to be a banquet. Yes, there will be those exceptional Thanksgivings and Christmases, but I`ll teach you how to pace yourself for those occasions. How many times have you exercised so far this week? Let me know.
