Guest guest
GET BACK TO WORK! 1/2/2002 Well, today is the day when most people go back to work. Maybe you`re at work right now reading this. If you are, stand up right now and say the following: “I love everyone here, and I love my job!” Now sit down. But there`s another work I want you to get back to, and that`s your workout. What is a workout? A workout is when you take time to exercise. And what is exercise? Exercise is movement that you do in order to keep your body healthy and strong. All workouts, no matter which one you choose, begin with a warm up, because during your workout, you do not want to hurt yourself. You must warm up your lungs by breathing, you must stretch your neck, your shoulders, your back, and all the major muscle groups in your legs. Without the warm up, you cannot get the total benefits of your workout. Then the next part of your exercise program is the aerobic part – the part where you use your arms and legs to bring your heart rate up so you can burn fat. The third part is the cool down. If you`ve worked your body properly, you will feel a little tightness in your legs, and they must be cooled down. First you have to bring your heart rate down, and then you have to stretch your muscles. Your heart has worked so hard that it needs to calm down a little, and so has the rest of your body. Part four is the toning where you are actually lifting a weight and toning your biceps, triceps, chest, back, and all the muscles in your upper body. Now that is what a workout should encompass. If you`re walking, you must warm up your heart to a faster pace, and then cool down your body by slowing your pace down. It`s the same in skiing, same in swimming, hiking, biking, spinning, or any other exercise that you choose to do. So please enjoy being back at work – I hope there are flowers on your desk – and enjoy your work out! You will always feel better after your work out than you did when you started. I promise that!
