Guest guest
http://www.richardsimmons.com/library/message_of_the_day.asp ~~~~~~~~~~ THE WALKING PARTY 11/8/2001 I had a wonderful interview with “The Washington Post” this morning. The lady named Annie G. asked me to design an exercise party for Thanksgiving Day. Well, she got my mind to thinking, and here`s what I told her. Invite people to your home two hours before dinner. In the living room, you should have everyone stretch the major muscle groups in their legs – their quads, their calves, their hamstrings. Then you should supervise a walk around the neighborhood or find a track at a high school – somewhere you could walk safely with a group. If the weather is terrible, go to a mall. Make it just a forty-minute walk – twenty minutes one way and twenty minutes back home. Then gather together back in the living room and cool down the muscles in your legs, and let everyone talk about how good they feel and how they have more energy. Wait about thirty more minutes and then serve dinner. This way, people will want to eat more balanced because they`ve just done something great for their bodies! Now you don`t want to do the exercise after you eat, because everyone will be tired and will come up with a million excuses not to walk. Chances are that most people will put on a little weight Thanksgiving Day because of those Pilgrims and that whole story we get caught up in, so you should try this with your family and friends. When you invite them all over, tell them to bring their cross trainers, and have them dress in something comfortable to walk in. Walking makes you happy! If you`re walking with others, why, you won`t believe how quickly the walk will go, and if you do that the day after Thanksgiving and the days after that, you could drop 8 or 10 pounds before Christmas dinner is served! Annie had just listened to “Walk Around the World”, one of my new walking cassettes, and she liked it so much, she`s recommending it to her readers. Go and see what walking tapes I have. Giving your friends and families the gift of health is the best present of all! Love,
