If nothing else, it clears the air. I haven't tried the bug zappers but I would also like to know if that would work. These things are probably so small, one wouldn't even hear them get zapped like a mosquito! Ha! I also tried the tanning salon for a couple of weeks and while it helped dry the surface bites, I don't think it was totally effective for me and being very light skin, I couldn't tolerate the rays for long. Maybe others have had success with the tanning salons??? Good luck Kihun! Keep us posted if you get a bug zapper! I tried " UV-ing " for about a minute or 2 on a bird mite biting me on my finger, scanned it from a portable, it carried on biting me. So, it doesn't work. I've also tried the same experiment with an ionizer tower fan. Didn't do squat either. Two per seat, so we had 4 in the front seat area and 4 on the back seats and 2 more in the very back. We did this for several months. All it did was fade out the seat covers. We also placed them over our beds and left 4 shining all day only about 3 inches from the top of the mattress. It didn't help. Rita Re: Anyone try UV light? I have also just put out ant traps so, i guess we will have to see. I cant tell about my environment. I have observed that they just burrow deep into the foam or whatever that is below and hide. Leather doesn't seem to stop them, they prolly took to the crevices. It's been a tedious battle with these critters for a about a month or so for me and the wife. Nothing seems to be working. Guest guest Posted October 13, 2008 Report Share Posted October 13, 2008 For those who don't have UV light, I find critters by having a bright light in a couple of places in a room and looking along the surface, for example I get out of my chair (I bought a black one on purpose so I can see the rascals, and it is microfiber, so it works AND they don't like it + not much texture to grab and hold them) and look at the seat from different angles. Same with clothing. If I am not where I can shower, such as during workday, I go to restroom and pull off items and pick critters out of the inside and outside that I cannot see when wearing them. Have had to do this for years. Always wear socks treated with my liquid or powder solution du jour, currently it is sulphur powder and pink oil over antifungal lotion. I put (also treated) pantyhose OVER the socks. Though it makes it harder to get at the critters who get into the socks, for some reason I get far fewer. Finally, I wear at least a mid-boot all year round, never regular shoes, because that really reduces the misery. I can remove my shoes unseen under my desk till we move in a couple of months, then will lose that privacy, and while my shoes are off I can scrub (with the lint roller) any places where I am being bitten (they are microbes. It doesn't take much to kill most of them) and remove other dark specks or light blobs. thanks for this question, I had been wanting to share the " angled viewpoint " that has worked for me for years. The trick is to look from multiple directions. And in my clothes, I feel for any slightest raised place, which I pinch and remove. USUALLY I don't get bitten, because the feeding tube is aimed at a place on my skin. Sometimes I guess I put my finger between the critter and its target, and then I get hit, but that happens seldom. It is a very methodical thing, like weeding a yard, but when I have no option but to " groom " myself like a monkey, hey, I'll do what I gotta do! I know we had talked about how to use it to SEE before.
