Guest guest
I think the article is referring to a scabies mite infestation, which is different than a bird mite problem in several ways. 1. The scabies mite is easier to control in the environment that bird mites (easier but not easy). 2. Scabies can be effectively treated with different skin treatments, since they burrow directly under the skin. 3. It is quite common to get institutional outbreaks from scabies, it happens in nursing homes all the time. Unfortunately, the publicity and public outcry does not elucidate the problems of bird mite infestations of humans, as other TV news stories have in the past.
