Hi Ian,

You are in the perfect place to get help for your skin. This forum is

very helpful with lots of great ideas and suggestions. Believe me,

we have all had many a day of despair and tears with this horrendous

affliction. For me the Epsom salt/water concentrate on the skin is a

good place to start. (Rita's recipe) I know how exhausting the

cleaning process can be but if you get the right chemicals in your

environment, you will start to see improvement. (whether you choose

Clorox or Windex or Cedarcide-just don't mix bleach and ammonia

products together)

As other posters have pointed out.....whatever you choose to work

with, if you see improvement and the number of bites decreasing,

stick with it. You will be encouraged with the progress and that

will keep you going. We are all praying for your success!

Things that have helped me as time savers in cleaning;

Using a hair dryer to dry skin - saves on washing bath towels.

(Thanks Rita) Or you can dry with disposable paper towels.

I use a Mylar blanket that keeps me warm and can be rinsed in the

shower instead of washing blankets. (Sporting goods section) I also

use satin sheets which can be soaked and dried overnight without

washing as the mites don't like synthetic materials.

Other things that may help...

Keep your bed away from the wall, cover and seal the mattress with

heavy duty plastic. (Walmart or Mattress store)

Wear shoes at all times. (at least flip-flops to keep from picking up

more mites from the floors/carpet)

Shower in a little standing water with a little Clorox or other

cleaner in the water to keep the showered off mites from grabbing

hold of your feet before they head down the drain.

If you have bird/rodent mites and not Scabies, Elimite is only a

temporary help and you may find better success with the Epsom Salts,

MSM cream and other solutions suggested in this forum.

Hang in there Ian and know that you have friends here! God Bless.
