My vote is for continous spraying of windex whether abandoned or not. The cheapest and easiest. Co2 tank if it doesn't work.

Not sure how infested my apartment is. The first day I ran thedehumidifyer, there were thousands of little black critters floatingin the water. Scary. One about a dozen the second time and now thewater is clear. I do periodically run a fan near to blow thingsaround towards the dehumid. unit.Between salt baths, TT Oil and sulfur soap (ran all over town and onlyfound 1 bar, no one has heard of it here!) I am feeling better, thoughsleep deprived enough to drop just about anywhere. One more question for the night please: If you were going to abandoncar for 14 days, what would you leave in it? One suggestion waswindex. Would borax be of any use? Or any kind of fogger? I justwant to keep the heat UP. It's the best car i've EVER owned, it'spaid for, and gets incredible gas mileage. I really don't want tolose it.THANK YOU ALL!!Ian>> The Raid bombs might work in the short-term, but not in the long-term.> I had no luck with the Raid bombs, but I waited until my place was> horribly infested before I used them. What might a Co2 tank cost me? Would I need to tape the car up so

it's air-tight?

thanks!

I would vote for the repetitive spraying of windex too. Douse the

inside of the car and trunk every couple of days. Get one of those

plastic garden sprayers from the hardware store for about $5, the kind

with the pump, and buy a few gallons of Windex. I think the CO2 tanks

are around $100 and then it's not too much to refill them, and you get

them at welding supply stores. It can be dangerous.

I'd vote for Windex every day while car is parked in the sun too.

It worked for me (the Windex more than the sun).

I'd add that once they are OUT of the car, best to spray everytime

you get in (run engine few minutes before with heater on, to wake

them up, then spray), and get out (killing those that may have

dropped off of you from house, internal, or work). I got them out

of my car months ago this way, and have kept them out even tho they

are still in my office and some at home.

Ian,

Before you let your car sit for 2 weeks, spray the interior down with

Windex! Very Heavily. Then after you get it back and are driving it

again, carry a spray bottle of Windex wih you and spray the interior

every single time you get out of your car. Spray the ceiling in it

too. This is how I was able and still able to maintain a bug free

ride!

Good luck!

All who have responded on this recommend Windex. You know, someone

recently commented on how their boyfriend thought this weird and

wouldn't try it so didn't get them out of his truck (car?).

I completely agree - when I started reading this forum out of

desperation when the PCO could do nothing, nothing at the hardware

store worked, etc., it just seemed SO WEIRD. Chemical companies

spend hundreds of thousands - millions? - of dollars to invent new,

powerful pest control formulas. But none of these are recommended.

Just " windex " , previously known for helping make your windows clean.

How weird is that. But just about all of us on this forum have come

to recognize that Windex is one of our best friends in this ongoing

battle. (And cheap too.)

So thank God for Windex! (Never thought I'd say that!!!)

That was my husband Miteyman. For some reason my husband REFUSED to

spray his car with Windex as he felt it just wouldn't work. He said

that the ingredients in Windex weren't strong enough to kill

anything. He also said that it was just too wierd. Sure it sounds

wierd! Spraying Windex in a car? But it worked for me and

I had a bug free ride a looooooooooooong time before my husband

did! ;) (God Bless his heart!) (God Bless Ray too for suggesting

Windex!!) My hubby wasn't allowed to ride in my truck either until

after we got them out of his car. I was so afraid he would reinfest

it!

I don't think my husband ever understood that it wasn't the strength

of the product, it was all in the timing and repetition in using it.

Ian, MSM is sulphur soap and you can find it at most health food stores and on internet. Neal used Coal Tar Soap at first and really liked it, then switched to Dr. Bronner's peppermint soap which he liked better. I can't tell you which would be best for you as everyone is different, for instance, anything greasy made Neal's crawlies go wild and he could not stand the feeling. Also I do not recommend any kind of permerthrins (sprays, bombs or skin cream) The first two absolutely did nothing and the skin cream worked only a day or so and was a real headache to get in every crease and between toes, etc.

As for the car, whatever you do use, I would start it first with a/c running and make sure it gets throughout your a/c system, then turn ignition off and spray thoroughly and close asap. Be sure and air out car good before you actually drive it.

Good Luck and my prayers. Joan
