Guest guest
Hi all, It's been 11 days since I sprayed " Best Yet Insect Spray " from Cedarcide all over the inside of my place. I'm not feeling bugs on the floors anymore, but I think there are still a few bugs lurking here and there because I didn't get all of the walls and ceilings, and I didn't spray my bookcases because I didn't buy enough. I'm planning to buy 2 more gallons and do the place again in a week or two. Overall, I would say that it worked. It is probably easier to apply the stuff evenly if you use the tri-jet fogger. I used the garden-sprayer thing, which was adequate but I had a hard time spraying the ceiling. I understand that with the tri-jet fogger it's good for getting the product airborne and evenly dispersed, but it doesn't get the cracks and corners very well, so if you can afford to buy it, it's probably good to also use the garden sprayer thing for the cracks and corners. Dr. Ben of Cedarcide recommends the tri-jet fogger for people with mite infestations, because they are airborne as well as crawling all over. I didn't feel the tri-jet fogger was necessary for my place because I had already beaten them back with the steam cleaning and I hadn't felt any of the airborne ones for a long time. Also, I can't afford it right now. Even though my car is not infested, I'm going to spray the Best Yet all over the inside of the car. My workplace seems to be okay now. I've been going to the office every Sunday morning for the past several weeks to treat my work area. For the first 3-4 weeks, I sprayed epsom salt solution all over the carpet around my work area. The past two weeks I've been vacuuming. Last week I only felt maybe one or two bugs hop onto my ankles. My new chair is bug free, and even though it's foam and vinyl (and horribly uncomfortable), I have it covered with a huge sheet of heavy gauge painters plastic. I don't care what anyone thinks. I'm also going to keep my car seats covered with the painters plastic. In retrospect, the Cedarcide product would have been more effective and easier to apply, for treating my workplace. The enzymes I'm taking seem to be working, at least so far. Last night I had no crawling whatsoever, and I slept on unwashed sheets. The Cedarcide product seems to have turned the tide for me, and I would recommend it to those of you struggling with your environment. myrtle
Guest guest
Thanks for the update. I do have a couple of thoughts regarding the ULV fogger: 1. Keep in mind the ULV particle size will be no smaller than 5 micron, which means it will not penetrate into fabrics very well. That is why a thermal fogger, with the smaller particle size is more effective, although it is more of a 'flash' hazard. 2. I don't know if the product mentions this, but most oil based products, and even water based, have a flash point at which an explosion can occur from a spark. That is why turning off the electricity and extenguishing gas pilot lights may be needed. (If you have any info on this product's flash point, maybe you could share it) 3. Try to spray in the evening when mites are more active, and there will be a better rate of success, versus the daytime. 4. Maybe a local PCO could rent you a ULV fogger for a day or two at a reasonable rate, as it is hard to justify buying this. (I had purchased a very good one when this first started, and nearly killed myself from the vapors, even though I had a NIOSH mask.) Continued success Myrtle, Tim > > Hi all, > > It's been 11 days since I sprayed " Best Yet Insect Spray " from > Cedarcide all over the inside of my place. Guest guest
Tim, Thanks for your thoughts on the fogger. I went ahead and ordered one this morning, because my mom wants it for treating her house. We also ordered 4 gallons of the Best Yet Insect Spray so we would have extra to spray on the cats, shoes, bed, papers, etc. If anyone orders this product, be sure to request an empty quart spray bottle, if the quart sprayer doesn't already come with the package you're ordering. Cedarcide's quart spray bottle has a fine mist setting that is ideal for spritzing the product in miscellaneous places. I emailed your question regarding the flash point to Cedarcide a couple days ago, but have not heard back yet. You might want to call their 800 number if you have questions, the staff are knowledgeable and helpful. I'll let everyone know how the treatment of my mom's house goes. She has carpeting, and I don't, so this will be a good experiment to see if it also works in carpeted homes. I believe her carpet is made of nylon, so hopefully that will make it easier to get rid of the bugs. They don't bite my mom at all, I guess she doesn't taste good, but I get swarmed whenever I go into her house or yard. myrtle > > > > Hi all, > > > > It's been 11 days since I sprayed " Best Yet Insect Spray " from > > Cedarcide all over the inside of my place. Guest guest
Here is the response from Cedarcide on the flashpoint question: The Flash Point of the Best Yet is 159 degrees fairenheit. This product will not be able to be used in a thermal fogger. It works very well in a Non Thermal Cold Fogger or often known as a ULV Foggger machine. Hope this answeres your question. Guest guest
Thanks Myrtle I appreciate all the effort into helping us understand this. I hope this product works for you all. " Flash point " is not just a measure of temperature, but also of the particle size and density in the air. That is why grain silos can explode, it is not due to a sudden rise in temperature only but in particle density in the air. One more question, do you end up diluting this product? Or is it used full strength in the sprayer? I find their website fonts and colors very hard to read and so don't spend a lot of time there. And have never gotten any responses to emails from them, but glad others have. Guest guest
Tim, the " Best Yet " spray is to be used as is. They have products for yards etc that have to be diluted. If anyone has appliances with pilot light in the area to be fogged it is advised to turn them off, otherwise no special precautions except covering food products. We did cover our toaster, coffeepot, computers and tvs and it worked fine. The main thing is to not vacuum or mop for at least 10 days to give spray time to kill eggs & larvae. We had activity for a few days after fogging but they got less and less every day until they were gone completely. If you need specific information you can call their toll-free number and talk to Dave. They have always answered us and were extremely helpful with all questions. Guest guest
Thanks Joan for responding to Tim's concerns. I didn't do as much research as you. Thank you for your efforts to understand the details of using this product, the Best Yet has helped me a lot. myrtle > > > > > > > > > > Hi all, > > > > > > > > > > It's been 11 days since I sprayed " Best Yet Insect Spray " from > > > > > Cedarcide all over the inside of my place. Guest guest
Hi LL. Windex works great but takes alot of time and alot of spraying. 2X a day. I was finally able to eliminate them from my home office and my truck strictly using Windex. But you will need a respirator. Like the ones that painters use. The smell is overwhelming but goes away within a short period of time. When spraying be sure to spray ceilings, walls etc... Hope this helps. Good Luck LL. You're in my prayers. > > Hi, > > I did 3 foggings of Cedarc ide--car ,house, bed.... > > The cost= $700 > > I STILL GET BIT!!!!! > > I am fed up with Cedarcide--it is so expensive and a chore to do and I was still getting > bit... > > I was getting bit after the third fogging so much that I tried to heat treat 3 days later (I > probably messed up the remaining cedarcide residual effects) > > 2 weeks of the Cedarcide and $700 later and I am no better off-- > > Now I am going to try the Windex like Ray.. > > any thoughts?? > > LL > > an >

Guest guest
Ok--I just added it up and it costs total $539---SORRY I had not added it all up yet--but that is still A LOT!!!!! Guest guest
Hi Z, Thanks for the positive note, too. In spite of this dreadful state we all are enduring, I think it helps to try and stay positive. It is people like you, Rita, Ray, Trulyblest who are inspiring the rest of us to keep on keepin on! And again thanks to Tim for allowing us to do so! LL, it sounds like the Windex might be the more reasonable route to go in comparing the two products. Any others wish to comment on the effectivness of Windex vs. Cedarcide? Thanks. Guest guest
Hi, I completely soaked my mattress with Windex and then let it dry for a while, then put on the cheap walmart mattress cover--all last nite--and i got a very good nites sleep with no biting except for maybe 1 this morning. I had good nights from the Cedarcide also. So honestly--I dont know what to do anymore!!!!! But it seemed like the Cedarcide was only good for a couple days... ugh LL > From: ladydee96 <ladydee96@...> > Subject: Re: CEDARCIDE UPDATE > bird mites > Date: Wednesday, July 2, 2008, 12:09 AM > Hi Z, > > Thanks for the positive note, too. Guest guest
Hi, I hear you....the amount of chemicals to kill this thing seems like a huge amount both in quantity and cost. I think it is like Ray said that we will drive ourselves crazy if we measure the success of each day versus checking on progress on a weekly basis since we know these mites act up more during full moons or weekly when new ones hatch, etc. I guess we have to slam these things constantly with these chemicals to put a real dent in them. I see where my light beige carpet is starting to get bluish tinge because of the Windex! UGH! (But I can clean my carpet later on) LD > > > > > > Lucy > > > > > > Wow, thats awful that it cost you that much...I looked > > at their > > > website and saw it being $100 but I guess the amount > > you need > > really > > > escalates the price. Guest guest
Yea--we are all slaves to these evil creatures... Has anyone fogged with the Cedarcide in the same house more than once???? It seems like everyone else only fogged once--Joan only once, Myrtle I know in 2 houses but how many times? The last and third time i fogged was wednesday nite. Kept it closed up over nite. On Friday I was getting bit during the day so much that I decided to try and heat treat on Saturday. Saturday I tried to heat treat but I am pretty sure i didnt get it past 100 degrees. It seemed to make it worse--probably made the eggs all hatch--I got eaten alive on Sunday and Sunday nite (slept elsewhere Sat nite) This is why I was so frustrated with the Cedarcide... Any thoughts anyone? Guest guest
I'm new on the site but I did try the cedarcide. I also bought a ton of it and fogged everything again and again until the neighbors complained that their apartments were saturated with cedar oil smell. It really didn't work for me and I wouldn't recommend spending the money. Of course, that is me and everyone probably has different levels of infestations. I have used the fogger though and I have even used it with windex. It works pretty good. So all is not lost. lou From: ladydee96 <ladydee96@...>Subject: Re: CEDARCIDE UPDATEbird mites Date: Wednesday, July 2, 2008, 12:22 AM Hi,I hear you....the amount of chemicals to kill this thing seems like a huge amount both in quantity and cost. Guest guest
Hi Lou, wow--you made me feel better--I feel like I am the only failure with the Cedarcide... How many times did you fog witht the Cedarcide? Do you think the Windex is working for you? Did you use the Windex in the fogger you bought from Cedarcide? Which do you think works better? Pls help me with these questions--I am so sad about giving up on the Cedarcide --but I just dont know how much to spend before I decide it is not working well enough to justify the cost!!!?? Guest guest
It didn't take long to kill them off in my truck, but the home office was another story! It took about 3 months to get them out of there! I had to change out all of the keyboards and mice several times, but was finally able to get rid of the hell that had decided to reside there. What a mess.... Windex does work... it takes alot of time, patience & perserverance. The fastest way to kill the mite that we had was by using Bleach & Epsom Salts together in a sprayer. Stops them dead! No questions asked. It was incredible! I hate it for you that the Cedarcide didn't work. Don't give up LL! You can beat this! Just keep on fighting!! > > Thankyou!!! Guest guest
I sprayed many times. My apartment and my car. It just didn't work. And the guy promised me it would. But yeah, i use the fogger all the time. I don't know if i should but if it gets the cedarcide into cracks and crevices i figure it would do the same for the windex. I am not as good as it sounds like I should be with the windex. I'll have to try harder. Today I used the water and epsom salts. I also added some borax. I had to use my spray bottle though. I'm sorry you spent so much money. I wouldn't buy any more if it were me. lou> > From: ladydee96 <ladydee96 (DOT) com>> Subject: Re: CEDARCIDE UPDATE> bird mites> Date: Wednesday, July 2, 2008, 12:22 AM> > > > > > > Hi,> > I hear you....the amount of chemicals to kill this thing> seems like a > huge amount both in quantity and cost.
