Guest guest
Hello, the map is great. I noticed that there is one other person on the map that is located here in my home town also. How could I contact that person by email so we could talk about how and when we got this.? Rita New Map. I started a new map: http://www.communitywalk.com/bird_and_rodent_mites/map/217272 . I took all the reports from internet incident reports (usually on forums where people are seeking help) where the person said where they were from and also from academic articles on mite infestations and plotted them all on this map. I'm not sure if you are able to post your own location on here, if you can, you are welcome to do so. I thought it would be interesting to see what pattern would emerge. Guest guest
I don't understand how to add my address to this map. Do you have to login first? Joan New Map. Guest guest
> > I started a new map: > http://www.communitywalk.com/bird_and_rodent_mites/map/217272 . I see a cluster near where I live and could add my location too. But how? Also, since this is my first post though I have had some kind of mite infestation since 8/2007, I'd like to add one thing I haven't seen documented in recent emails: I tried using the Epsom salt over my body after bathing but it took so long to dry and felt flakey all day. I switched to washing with Anti-bacterial Hand Soap with Triclosan and that got rid of the crawlies for me. I'm now using the Epsom salt/water mixture as a bed and environment spray with good results, and washing clothing with 1/2 cup Borox and 1/2 cup Ammonia in each load, again with good results. Like golfingnut, I have nice wool clothing (suits in my case) that are really hard to get the crawlies out of. Dry cleaning doesn't seem that effective so I've switched to steaming (sometimes) and spraying with Windex each morning before I wear them. Salt on wool would show too much... Any other suggestions? Guest guest
Someone else had actually started a similar map and invited people to post mite infestation locations on there. I registered, but it wouldn't allow me to post on that map, so I started this one. You could try to register with the communitywalk website and see if it lets you post on my map, I would be glad if it actually worked. If it doesn't, it may be that I am only able to post on it > > > > I started a new map: > > http://www.communitywalk.com/bird_and_rodent_mites/map/217272 . > > I see a cluster near where I live and could add my location too. Guest guest
I think it was on the e-bug forums that someone said they knew someone with this in Chicago and another post indicated a city also located in northern Illinois, so I just marked the two cities up north. As for the two markers in the middle of Illinois, one of them is the lady from Shanspirations, who was from Illinois and the other, I think, is you. As far as how I chose the two locations in the middle, I think I just stuck them in there. Sometimes people mention a city, while other times it's a state or in the case of Germany and Italy, a region. There are actually two cases of mites near my city that I only heard of from hearsay, but because of the touchiness of the issue, none of us have been in contact and the person who knows all three of us wouldn't compromise our privacy. > > Hello, the map is great.
