Guest guest
Dear Loviatar, You might search for message #1798 from a family that moved to Brasil to escape these demons and what they did to handle it. (I think that is what you are referring to?) Personally, I have been fighting these things for almost a year and a half....much too long in my book but many have been fighting this battle for a lot longer. I too, have started spraying everything with Epsom Salts and have seen a good improvement but I am not out of woods yet. Lady Dee > > Someone mentioned a Brazilian list of things to do. Guest guest
Lady Dee, Thanks for pointing me to the Brazilian story. I'm wondering if something like that has been going on with me as I don't really feel the crawling (haven't felt it for a while) but I keep getting bites. There's a whole variety of bites, though, from pin prick almost open things, clear blister in middle of pruritis, vesicular papules (zit- like bites), mosquito bite looking things, etc. So, I think this can't be just some dust mite that is causing a little bit of contact allergy. It's just rather strange that I have no more crawling but the bites persist. The house that I was the source of contamination, the people are still fighting them and they feel the crawling and the whole works. I'm wondering if they're dying off and not reproducing for me, even though the bites come at a rather regular frequency. Supposedly a lot of people in California have gotten rid of tropical rat mites by getting rid of the rats or mice, they die out after about two months of getting rid of the original host. Guest guest
Hi Loviatar, I agree that what most of us seem to have is not attributable to a dust mite. It does sound like possible bird mites or rodent mites. How long have you had the symptoms? Hopefully, if you aren't experiencing the crawling sensation, then maybe you are just dealing with external bites in the environment and not the ones that seem to stay on or in the skin 24/7. Then I think it might be a matter of getting rid of the hosts and mites in the environment. It is tough to know since these darn " mites " are invisible unless you are lucky enough to catch one and see that under a microscope. The antihistamines help with the itching but not necessarily the eradication of these things. I take them at night to help me sleep. Have you tried spraying your skin or environment with Epsom Salts? (Rita's remedy) That has helped me (and others) a great deal in killing these things but it doesn't happen overnight. Keep up the good work and battle! We will all get past this somehow! Guest guest
Hi Lady Dee, Thanks for your response. I've had the mites since November 3, 2007, so it's about four months. Around December 25, the crawling subsided even though I was in an infested house at the time, crawling mainly when I woke up from sleep. When I left the infested house about January 15, the crawling almost completely stopped, although I've had bites every day even to today. One day I had an O'Doul's non- alcoholic beer (less than 0.5% ABV, about 1/10 of a normal beer) and I received more than 10 bites within the next couple hours which indicated to me that I had a lot of mites on me all the time, I just didn't feel them. I see people scratching themselves and rubbing their legs and ankles often when I sit in places with a lot of people around. It can't be a coincidence that different people do this wherever I go. I am now in a group housing setting, no one in my apartment has complained of the mites so apparently they are all immune to them. Because of the setting, it seems difficult to go into major spraying operations although I've used insecticides in my room, I'm running a dehumidifyer and a pro-ionic air purifyer. I wonder what kind of mess the epsom spray would make and if it would help if I keep reinfesting myself from the car. I also can't soak my clothes in it due to housing setting. I wash clothes constantly and use oils (tea tree shampoo, witch hazel & oils) and insect repellants. Thanks for the insight. Guest guest
Loviatar, Others I have talked to about these mites have noted that as well...that sometimes we can feel them on us and other times we don't but we still receive bites. It is tough to understand how these things operate! I also live in a small place where I share laundry facilities so I am unable to soak all my clothes and linens as I have to walk to a laundry room some yards away. The Epsom Salts can create a mess especially in the car but you can spray the car and then later clean the surfaces with warm water or a cleaner so the car interior won't look like it has been " snowing " inside! But leave it in the fabric/carpet areas if possible where the mites most likely hide. I know....trying to keep several areas mite free on a daily basis is quite a challenge! You could also have your car carpet and upholstery detailed professionally but it is also good to get some spray right back into the fabric to prevent further infestation. Thanks to the Epsom Salts, I don't have to vacuum my indoor carpet so often anymore and that has helped with the tremendous number of chores related to this affliction. I am glad to hear that you have air purifiers and a dehumidifier...that should help a lot with the airborne sprays and chemicals that may be present and protect your lungs! I wear a painters mask as well if I do any major spraying in my place. Since you have only had this for a few months, I sure hope you can get rid of those mites quickly! There are loads of good suggestions on this site and on Birdmites.org. Good luck! Lady Dee > > > > > > > > > > Someone mentioned a Brazilian list of things to do. Guest guest
Hi Lady, I also share laundry facilities...so what i did is I bougt a small plastic tub from Walmart and soak things in that in the shower..... then the next day, hang those wet things for a while in the shower to get some of the water out so they arent so heavy.... then wash them. It sucks....it is so much work...i dream of living in a house where i have my own washing machine...it would be so much easier! But i have to remind myself that I live across the street from the beach and that is so nice. But ugh....all the slaving everyday.... I think my ozone machine is helping...you should think about getting one. Also--i have been taking iver the same as what Golf's dr scheduled him to take...except i am taking the horse paste--it is super easy to get from horse feed store---i think it is helping.... The cs in lotion really gets them out of my skin--i use alot of cs per lotion. I put a vibrating mens clippers against my nose yesterday and they came out of my nose....i read they dont like vibrations....i am going to look into something bigger that vibrates. love LL --- ladydee96 <ladydee96@...> wrote: > Loviatar, > > Others I have talked to about these mites have noted > that as > well...that sometimes we can feel them on us and > other times we don't > but we still receive bites. Guest guest
Hi LL, Thanks for the suggestions! I am so tired at the end of the day as I am sure we all are if we work a full day... that soaking clothes is the last thing on my mind but I think for smaller items, I could certainly get a tub and soak those. I, too look forward to having a place with a washer & dryer! That would save on a lot of energy expended in hauling clothes to and from! I also just purchased an air purifier with the UV light that zaps microrganisms. I think it is helping as well. And I just bought more cs so I will try some of that in my lotion to see what happens there. Do you leave it on or wash it off after removing those specks? Thanks LL! Lady Dee P.S. I am sure the ocean with it's sea salt must be helping, too! Are you spraying Epsom Salts on your skin as well? That has helped me a great deal. > > > > > > > > > > Lady Dee, > > > > > > > > > > Thanks for pointing me to the Brazilian story. > > I'm wondering if > > > > > something like that has been going on with me > > as I don't really > > > > feel > > > > > the crawling (haven't felt it for a while) but > > I keep getting > > > > bites. > > > > > There's a whole variety of bites, though, from > > pin prick almost > > > > open > > > > > things, clear blister in middle of pruritis, > > vesicular papules > > > (zit- > > > > > like bites), mosquito bite looking things, > > etc. So, I think > > this > > > > > can't be just some dust mite that is causing a > > little > === message truncated === > > > > ______________________________________________________________________ ______________ > Looking for last minute shopping deals? > Find them fast with Search. http://tools.search./newsearch/category.php?category=shopping >
