Guest guest
Thanks to 's research we learned about the heat treatment. She's spearheading the movement on heat! I just make a lot of costly mistakes and hope that others don't have to waste their time and money repeating them. Guest guest
I finally got paid and went last night to buy all the stuff. but it is 7 inch duct work from home depot. i bought a jig saw to cut the hole in the plywood, too. i'm getting there, slowly but surely. Do you wear gloves when handling the duct work? Does the aluminum tape work good? Mine says it is made for high temperatures. I got bit up so bad in my car yesterday. I want to heat my car and see if that works, hopefully it will not melt. i only have the oven thermometer and need a wireless one, though."hunger.stryke" <cyndilees@...> wrote: Melinda,You have the same heater I have. Guest guest
Melinda, You dont have to have a wireless. Be carefull with the car, wrap the duct in a towel so it doesnt touch the plastic around the door. I just used duct tape. You will need gloves the ducting gets very hot and will burn you. Guest guest
MM- Thank you. I am trying to see if what others are experiencing is similar to me. I noticed the same thing....but I thought some of it was skin flaking. The others are young mites from what I can scope. I have black specks two. Some I think were feces or eggs and others are again mites from what I see in my microscope. Are the white ones or the black ones dead? What does the color indicate to you all? I have been using Neem extract, and what I notice when I apply it to my face or anywhere else for that matter is......Immediate increase in activity, tingling type pin pricks with white "tiny pearls" popping out and the tickling associated with walking. When I look in the mirror it is a white or milky speck, sometimes many of them. I scrape off gently and apply to a microscope slide and it is a identifiable mite under the scope. Recently I noticed a few black specks by my problem right ear after applying the extract and scoped those as well, and again identifiable mites. I am confused.manymites <manymts@...> wrote: Fritolay,If I don't bathe in the morning, by the end of the day my body is full of white specks, or milky looking tiny specks that would look almost like white dust but it isn't. Guest guest
I know this is pretty basic stuff for you all, but the forum I had been using was really lacking in detail like this. Does anyone have a link to a mite expert I could contact? I thought about it a little more and it would seem the black ones display more often like they are dead and have been drying up and flaking away. Little parts missing of them but still identifiable. The white ones are or have seemed to be the problem for me. They do seem to travel, I get an immediate reaction from them, and they seem to be more healthy looking when I scope them. Quite intact, roundness, furry, legs or stumps, mouthparts intact. I seem to tear the legs off frequently. Have seen some with suction cups and some with claws. The legs....Some segmented, some not. The bodies.....Some round, some oval, some diamond shaped. More than one type or just the difference in where they seem to be in their life cycle? I can't tell you all how happy I am to have found this forum. You all seem very friendly and helpful. Guest guest
Fritolay- hey there. I have been in contact with 1 mite expert (I believe he was in Brazil) unfortunately, I didn't save his info because he wasn't able to answer my questions at that time- mite experts are called " aracologists " and there are very few of them out there. You'll probably be able to find one (or maybe more) by Googling aracology or aracologist(s). I'd be interested in what you're able to find so keep me posted please. som > > > > > > > > > > > > > > How did it work for you? > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > --------------------------------- > > Looking for last minute shopping deals? Guest guest
Fritolay- I found some of the info I mentioned regarding the aracologist I was in contact with but can't locate his contact info at this time. His name is Aracologist Ochoa of the United States Department of Agriculture. Hopefully you can take it from here. If you need any help finding him, let me know and I'll do what I can. som Re: Re: heat treating #3 I know this is pretty basic stuff for you all, but the forum I had been using was really lacking in detail like this. Guest guest
Frito-Bandito, It is my belief that once you get these mite pheromones on you then you are attracting different types of mites. I once found a sceintific document on line that talked about it but when I tried to go back it asks for a paid subscription so I figured I got to a cached document or something online but couldn't get back without paying. I think that is why some of my bites feel like burns and others like pin pricks, stings and so on. I do feel like the crawlers are either younger mites or just looking to mate. I focused my attack on the crawlers because I figured the eggs we can't really kill and the crawlers and adults were kill-a-bull. People who feel they are very allergic to dust mites say they feel dust mite bites. I think dust mites are content to stay in mattresses, carpet and pillows and wait for dead skin unless the smell a pheromone on someone and come out to attack, feed or mate and then they actually crawl on people and they have spines on their legs. I'm not sure if the spines are the irritant or the people are actually bitten. Dust mites are around us 100% of the time but they leave most people alone until they have been marked with a pheromone. I feel sorry for some people who feel they are just allergic to the dust mites but are marked with a mite pheromone and are seeked out by these mites that were at one time harmless to them. Most of them say they get the allergy once they worked in an office or old building with a lot of dust. Some buildings get " sick building syndrome " and a lot of suffers either work in a building like that or have worked in a build like that. Even the county entomologist I talked to who was really nice and knowledgeable but not helpful in my situtation told me of stories of people who work with old files sometimes develope an alergy for dust mites. He questioned if I worked in an old building and he thought I just might be alergic to dust mites. I don't think that is the case but I took his knowledge for what it was worth. He had retired from the Army and had been everywhere and had never heard a story like ours. I don't have a scope only a pocket scope but it is pretty much worthless. You would have a better opinion if you are just seeing mites at different life cycles and that is what makes the difference between white and black specks. I've never seen a black speck move but I believe I saw a few white specks jump in about 8 months of looking at them but I also question if it was just skin flakes that moved due to static electricity. I'm just kidding you about the name. There used to be these old frito bandito commercials. The neem you are spraying will stop the developement of the mites so you might just be seeing the results of your attack on these mites. When I used to put tto on the buts would start biting worse but maybe it was just because they didn't like it. Good luck. Guest guest
I am not offended by the name. I have come across similar info regarding dust mites but I am thinking this is not our problem as they do not burrow? No spines on the legs. In nine months of scoping the mites, I have only seen one move. Briefly....almost always they curl their legs underneath themselves when removed from the skin or I have ripped them off some how. Find legs seperated from the bodies a lot. Again, this is all under a microscope. Visually, you can't tell what they are. Also, some are larger, actually quite large and others are so tiny but still identifiable mites. Sooo...if I have been planted with a pheromone......how does one rid themselves of it? Wouldn't the Neem do that as well? I can't describe how well the extract works on my skin. Capable of healing lesions in a week. I use sulfur for sloughing the skin and thinning it so the Neem extract can penetrate further. Is there such a thing as an anti-pheromone spray for the environment.....humans...? Thanks for answering all these kinda basic questions....appreciate it much.castiar <castiar@...> wrote: Frito-Bandito,It is my belief that once you get these mite pheromones on you then you are attracting different types of mites. Guest guest
I believe Listerine helps to wash it off. I put it in a spray bottle and then spray it on me in the shower. At first I would spray and rinse then when I realized how not only was it washing off the crawlers, the number of bites started going down. So I started spraying it on and rubbing it in before rinsing. I've never used neem but from what I have read it stops them from developing. When I had got the mites to stop chasing me around I realized that they stopped biting my head, ears, face and back and were only biting my hands and while I was in the shower I realized that I never sprayed my hands. I washed my hands very good in listerine like 3 times that night and 2 times in the morning. The bites stopped over night that further backed my belief that we get marked with a pheromone and then these mites that are always around us start to seek us out. I don't think there is a product for pheromone removal but I had thrown out the idea of using that " no scent " stuff hunters use to wash off human odor and it even washes off pet odors so when you go hunting you won't give yourself away to animals with sensitive sense of smell. It is actually an antibacterial soap. By the time I thought of that the bugs had stopped biting me so I can't test it. I can't recommend it from past experince. I can tell you bathing in Listerine took over a month to fully work. We weren't getting bitten anymore but my wifes cousin came over and she got bit. I had warned them not to come over until we got better but they kept comming over. I think they thought I was being rude or something and took it the wrong way and they started coming over more than normal so I think she got marked with a pheromone also and whenever she came over she got whelts from the bites. So, her getting bitten after we stopped getting bit also made me realize that the mites were still around only they weren't biting us anymore. Cutting out sugar also helps and of course treating your environment with something. I used gallons of Windex original but others are getting relief from heat. Thanks for not taking my kidding wrong about your screen name. Take care, Ray > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > How did it work for you? > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > --------------------------------- > > > Looking for last minute shopping deals? Guest guest
Cyndi. I did some heat treating today. But the heater kept turning off, well, not exactly turning off, but the fire kept turning off. I am thinking because it was too hot. The duct work came apart at first, the sticky part of the aluminum tape was burning and smoked up the house, at first. Did your heater do this? If the fire turns off, what do you do? Do you shut the propane tank off? That is what I did. So, because of this, my kitchen only got up to 90 degrees. Maybe I need bigger duct work, 8 inches, instead of 7 inches, so the fire won't keep shutting down on it.??? Can someone advise, please? Thank you."hunger.stryke" <cyndilees@...> wrote: Melinda, You dont have to have a wireless. Be carefull with the car, wrap the duct in a towel so it doesnt touch the plastic around the door. Guest guest
It could be the sparkplug. Look down inside and you will see it. Clean it off with sandpaper. Also, your tank could be low on propane. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > How did it work for you? > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > --------------------------------- > > > > Never miss a thing. Guest guest
Melinda- For how long did your heater run before shutting off? It could also be that your tank froze. When that happens to me I have to unplug the heater to " reset it " and try again. If your heater was outside it should not be overheating in my opinion. Some models have a thermostat that will shut them off for safety. One of my heaters shuts off at about 130 degrees. I could only find 6 " flexible ducts at my local Lowes and Home Depot but using 8 " duct would definitely reduce the heat on the duct. Good luck- MM --- bird mites , " hunger.stryke " <cyndilees@...> wrote: > > It could be the sparkplug. Look down inside and you will see it. > Clean it off with sandpaper. Guest guest
It would shut off within a few minutes. I would turn the propane tank off and then turn the heater off, and then wait a few and start all over again. I guess I will buy the 8 inch, like Cyndi said to use. I felt the tank, the liquid was liquid and not frozen. I think it turned off because it was overheating or something like that.manymites <manymts@...> wrote: Melinda- For how long did your heater run before shutting off? Guest guest
The duct could be the cause. I would try running the heater without the duct attached just to make sure it's nothing wrong with the heater itself. Also make sure you have the gas tank open all the way before turning on the burner. I noticed that when my tank wasn't fully opened I didn't get as much gas and the heater turned off faster as the tank cooled down. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > How did it work for you? > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > --------------------------------- > > > > > > Never miss a thing. Guest guest
Okay, thanks, Many Mites, I will take the duct off, but, it was kind of difficult to get on there just right. My hands show the effects of that this morning. I will make sure the propane is all the way open next time. I was playing around with it yesterday. You are very helpful and I appreciate that.manymites <manymts@...> wrote: The duct could be the cause.I would try running the heater without the duct attached just to make sure it's nothing wrong with the heater itself.
