Guest guest
Hi Everyone, A school about 50 miles from us just had a tremendous amount of students and a coach hit with the whooping cough. I have a 3 1/2 year old boy and a 12 week old boy who have never been vaccinated. My sister-in-law is calling my mom and getting her all worried about my kids not being vaccinated. And now I'm getting paranoid because my 12 week old has had a mild cough over the past 2 days. How can I get more educated on whooping cough and how it affects kids in those age groups? Thanks so much! Parish
Guest guest
I have no experience with it and won't offer treatments. But I would not assume that all " outbreaks " are actually outbreaks. It's almost as if pertussis and measles outbreaks are the " diseases du jour " and outbreaks are being identified to pump up fear. I would be curious to know how many pertussis cases were confirmed in labs or diagnosed purely by symptoms and assumptions. Check this out: http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/pubs/pertussis-guide/guide.htm " School or child care outbreak: two or more cases clustered in time in a school or child care center; the outbreak case definition may be used to count cases if one case has been confirmed. " AND this is interesting: " Pertussis outbreaks...did not always use clear definitions for a case of pertussis, a contact, laboratory confirmed case, and vaccination status, and definitions varied among studies. " So, I would not get overly concerned about your son having pertussis as it could just be a cold and cough. Winnie Whooping cough? Vaccinations > Hello listmates. Guest guest
Thanks for the reply Winnie. I am not sure of the total number of supposed cases. I do know of 5 that are said out of school with it. There are two siblings out one in the first grade and one in the fifth grade. It seems for now most of the cases are in the primary grades. I am assuming that these kids have been vacc'd all the way so I find it ironic that they might have this. It would seem to me that if that vaccine worked as they say it does that these newly vacc'd kids wouldn't be the ones coming down with it. Just my thoughts anyway. I don't know how many people in our school know that we don't vacc. anywmore but I am sure several will be watching my kid to see if he gets it. Until I hear from the homeopath I am just going ahead with the increased Vit C., Echin, lots of rest and fluids and of course mom's TLC :-) Have a great weekend Sherry > > I have no experience with it and won't offer treatments. Guest guest
Jim- I know of 5 kids that supposedly have this and their are approx 500 kids in our school. It seems the cases I know of are in the primary grades. I am going to do some investigating tomorrow to see what the total count is on Monday. Thanks Sherry > > Can you find out exactly how many kids have this and what is the total number of kids in school. > > Jim > > > > > ________________________________ > From: crazeladyshopper <crazeladyshopper@...> > Vaccinations > Sent: Sunday, October 26, 2008 9:42:02 AM > Subject: Whooping cough? > > > Hello listmates. Guest guest
Thanks for the reply. I am glad to hear you made it through. Sounds like you had your hands full. I was talking to some parents in a large group last night and they of course were all caught up in it. I was just listening intently as several of them went on to ask if there was a vaccine for it. Funny how they didn't even know what had been injected in their kid. They all agreed that their kids were up to date on shots and said it was probably the kids that weren't vacc'd that brought it to school. I mentioned that it is state law that all kids are vacc'd before entering school and most likely the kids were vacc'd that had it. Then I brought up the subject that it seems odd that these vacc'd kids had said disease. Just planting a seed of thought for them. They don't know my views on vacc. because most of these people were strangers to me so there weren't biased towards my view. But it did get them to talking about it. Now, you and I know that you can enter school without the vaccs but that group of parents had no clue and that wasn't the time or place to bring that subject up so I left it alone. I know for a fact that there are very few non-vacc kids in my school. We are few but we do try to stick together :-) Anyway, I didn't mean to go off on that. Glad to hear your little ones are feeling better. Take care and have a great rest of the weekend.
Guest guest
Thanks Most on this list know I gave up on the germ theory a long time ago. The point being if five caught it where did the first one get it and why didn't the other 495 get it. on the other hand if one understands toxema or the building up of mucus or poison in the cells, its easy to understand why five or 10 kids would get sick at the same time. That would come under the law of averages. Keep me posted. Thanks Jim ________________________________ From: " wharrison@... It's not really your business to ask it BUT I would ask if those five were vaccinated, fully or partially. Winnie Whooping cough? > > > > > > Hello listmates. Guest guest
So, given the fat that these parents knew that the vax'd kids were the ones with whooping cough, what was their explanation?  My ped told me that the vax wears off by the time kids are ten, and he wanted everyone in my home to take the antibiotics, even my older two children, who were vax'd. He said we ALL had to take them, or we'd ALL get whooping cough, which pretty much admits the vax is useless. +4 ( 10, Quinn 5, Jezek 2, Briar 4 months) __________________________________________________________________ Looking for the perfect gift? Guest guest
Unbelievable. They're pro-vax yet don't know what vaxes they're pro for! I wonder how one researches unknown vaccines... Guest guest
So you all got through it just fine--glad to hear it, . Make sure that ped knows it. It might be worth a co-pay to have her (?) give them a recheck and put it on their records " had pertussis, no antibiotics, still alive and well. " Teach her something they didn't in medical school. Guest guest
- There really wasn't much said between them. Just a lot of " lost " looks on their faces. But they all were all for any and all vaccines handed out....just pathetic :-( The two sisters that have it had to have the whole family on antibiotics just like you mentioned. I talked to a teacher today and both girls were not to return to school for 5 days after being on the antibiotic. How sad that even the family members that don't show symptoms are going ahead with the antibiotic....ugh!>
Guest guest
Liz- yes, I do use a classical homeopath. I hope she will be getting in touch with me tomorrow. For now my son seems to be holding his own and symptoms are getting any worse. Thanks > > > > Hello listmates.
