Hi all!

Does anyone know a good water filter system for the entire house??

We really want to avoid all the bad stuff that comes with the public water.

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated .

Thanks!

I have not formally introduced myself to the group but I wanted to respond to

this email about a water system. I would check out www.waterwise.com

My intro will come soon.

I think Rain Soft is very good, but expensive. You should find them in the

yellow pages.

whole house ones are VERY expensive

I researched water filters in the early 80's and the quality of water in

San Diego area and what all the different products out there were and the

best solution and came up with the best in my opinion - solid carbon

block................this is at the point of use at kitchen sink

I do sell them if anyone is interested (but don't go into a lot of heavy

promotion - if you want it, you can get it from me)

Whole house filters are expensive, so we went for a central system and

places taps in bathrooms and the kitchen.

Carbon block filters are can be good for getting rid of most toxics in

water and I used one for many years. It may or may not make the water

taste better.

If you live in a farming area and need to filter out nitrates, look

for a reverse osmosis system. A friend and I researched RO systems

and ended up getting one for $229 from www.waterfiltersonline.com.

It's worked well for the past two years, filters are cheap, and it's

fairly efficient.

I agree about Multi-pure carbon block filters and became a reseller of

them about six years ago. They appear to be the best available. When

I moved to Iowa, Multi-pure told me I needed to get an RO system to

filter out nitrates.

Do I need to use a carbon block filter before or after the RO system

to be sure pesticides and other toxics are removed? I thought the RO

system pretty much did that.

The RO system I mentioned does waste 3.2 gallons for each gallon

purified, but that it routed to water our garden.

HI Tatjana,

Have you checked out a Reverse Osmosis system? Doesn't do the whole house

but will filter all your water that comes out of your kitchen tap. The

solid carbon block ones are quite good but don't remove as much as an RO

system. Try http://www.detox.co.uk/ishop/405/shopscr99.html - this is a UK

company but their products are imported from America. I'm sure you could

get them much cheaper there. We're planning on buying one from a firm in

Scotland wholesale when they enforce fluoridation in the UK. :o) They take

out just about everything - bar the kitchen sink! ;o)

Sue
