Guest guest
I also have developed irritable bowel... quite suddenly. It's 2 months now. I can't believe this! It's really embarrassing. I've been sick since 1989, and have never had this before. Why does this happen? What is the seacure.? The dairy enzymes I take only work sometimes. My diet consist mostly of dairy. I am really upset about this. I don't want to go to a doctor and start having a bunch of tests. Coincidentally, my nickname is also Cat. Guest guest
As promised, here is my update on irritable bowel: I no longer have any symptoms of irritable bowel, as long as I follow the following: 2-3 Seacure/Seagest tablets twice per day Digestive Enzymes with each meal (I use Digest-Gold) A limited diet (meat, fish, eggs, veggies, white rice, corn) Staying away from fruits, gluten, dairy, pulses, alcohol, etc. is key to avoiding irritable bowel symptoms (at least in my case). Guest guest
Seacure/Seagest is pre-digested deep-water white fish. They use it in less developed countries to deal with irritable bowel problems (e.g., uruguay). I find it also helps to lessen my various pains and stiffness throughout the body (not sure why it does that). Here's a couple of web sites where you can read some of the elementary research: http://www.outletnutrition.com/744665002664.html http://www.propernutrition.com/seacure.html I've yet to find an enzyme that entirely negates the negative effects of certain foods (e.g., dairy, gluten). Although, some people on the autism newsgroups claim that Huston Neutraceuticals AFP Peptizyde enzymes allows them to eat gluten and diary without the usual problems. I didn't have much luck with it. http://216.114.78.114/webcenter/sites/HNI/Section.asp?SID=3535 & N=AFP%20Peptizyde I've no idea what causes irritable bowel, but I'm certain it's linked to my CFS somehow. Guest guest
Hi gang, I'm pleased to report that my IBS is now very much under control. I no longer need to take enzymes with each meal. I am able to eat most fruits at least once or twice per day. I can eat dairy from time to time. However, I still have a strict no gluten diet, as I consider that stuff to be quite toxic for most of the human race. The key was: 1. Take SeaGest at high doses (6 or more tablets) every day for at least 3-6 months 2. Take Sac. Boulardii (brand name: Florastor) at very high doses (3 caps, 3-4 times per day) for at least one month, or until all yeast symptoms disappear (white tongue, etc.). 3. Avoid all fruits, gluten, sugar, dairy, and caffeine whilst you are repairing your bowels. 4. Take enzymes with each meal (I found V-Digest Gold to be the best of all of them) 5. Take probiotics (lactobacillus GG and Bifidus Regularis are esp. good for the bowel) every day My guess is you'll start to feel better within days. Once you've done this for 3 months, try adding in some fruits (pineapple seems to be one of the easiest to digest) and see if you feel OK. If anyone follows this, let me know how the experiment goes. If it works, then we have a formula for others to follow. Kat. P.S., I still take SeaGest every day to ensure that I keep my benefits and repair any new leaks that may occur in the bowels. Guest guest
Kat I appreciate that info. DH has a history of GI problems. I suspect he may have fm/cfids issues too, but, we can only afford one of us to be treated at a time, and he is struggling more with his gout and digestive issues. In '89 had perforated bowel, dx w/ diverticulitis. Big artillary antibiotics at that time. Since then bouts of diarrhea, some self induced as gout therapy with cholchicine. Has had multiple antibiotic therapy since for recurrant abdominal pain associated w/ diverticulitis. Recently put on carefate for possible ulcer. Is on prilosec for GERD. Has hypertension controlled w/ rx. All that to say, I am grateful you outlined your treatment. I have wondered where to start and you have given good suggestions. I'll pass that on tho him and see if he's willing to try a better way to manage his probable leaky gut. Thanks so much.
