If he is already off this list, then he will not be getting these messages.

I suggest the Monitor contact him privately to find out who it is making

these threats & make sure the offender is taken off this list. I know I do not

want someone like that on this list.

I am so sorry to hear of what has happened and I can understand you

wanting to leave the list. Surely it is the person who posted the

email to you who should be removed from the list as such behaviour is

completly unacceptable on any list.

I am so sorry to hear this, Dr Schaller.

I have experienced e-mail abuse and it is a serious crime; I know how

nasty it is.

There is a law against this, and any instances of abuse (whether by e-

mail or in forums) should be reported, either to your service

provider or theirs- I would recommend both actually.

If you send a copy of this filth with the full address to abuse @

your service provider, they WILL track down this criminal,

and I believe they will be banned from using the internet; perhaps

even prosecuted.

I understand that you have to do what you feel is best,

but I hope you will feel inclined to return at a later date-

It is very wrong that a person so hateful should be getting their way

and stopping such good people like yourself from helping us

-we need all the help we can get here and you are a very kind person

who deserves our gratitude.

PLEASE, I agree. I'm going to email him privately (Dr Schaller).

Whoever wrote the email should be delisted. It is easy for a moderator

to ban someone.

Except that this person can get back on the list by using a new email

service and a new user name. Dr. S has put his phone numbers and

physical address (thru links) on this list, so he has no alternative

but to leave. Someone should b/c Dr. S w/ the email address for the

moderator, so that he can forward the offensive email to them for

appropriate action.

The nutter who sent you such a message should not only be removed by

this list's moderator, but reported to and the FBI, both of

whom take official interest in threats issued via email.

Please, Dr. S. There are official channels to deal with this stuff,

and you owe it to the entire Net community to see to it that they are

brought to bear. There's no reason for you to leave -- but every

reason for the person responsible to be made accountable. And the

mechanisms to do that are available.

Understand that I've been here. My husband was once stalked by an

employee he had to fire, forcing our entire family to flee the state

for two weeks on one memorable occasion. It's horrible and scary,

especially if you have an established home, career, and family to

protect.

But if you let him win, he wins. And good people cannot allow that to

happen, especially when there are effective ways of dealing with this.

Not if they're reported to and their ISP -- who, if the threats

meet the legal qualification, will call in the law.

Again: there are serious steps that can be taken. The Net is no

longer a frontier town without a sheriff.

I second this message. It is so wonderful to have an MD offering

comments on this list. I too do not want anyone with dark tendencies on

this list.

THat terrible - Ithink we all know this list is about sharing info that we then

can check with our physician. Most ofthe advice involves treatments available at

any health food store anyway. Anyone whos impugning Dr. Schaller for giving

advice is striking at the heart of what this message group is all about - the

free flow of information amongst people who badly need it.
