Guest guest
I was told that since the viruses still remain in your body, they reactivate. Dr Dantini in Florida, with whom I do phone consults, had me on antiviral meds (Valtrex 1 mg 3 x day with Zantac one hour prior to the am and pm dose to buffer the stomach) and it helped tremendously for me. When I feel my throat gland swelling (a sign for me that my EBV/mono is reactivating), I take the Valtrex (I now only need twice daily doses not three) and Zantac for 2-3 days or a week to give my system a boost, calm down the virus, and I get better faster. So, you don't actually get it again...just like you get shingles later on as a chicken pox reactivation of the virus. in La Selva Beach CA Re: Mononucleosis and CFS? I had mono in high school. Then another 'mono like' illness at around 25 (3 yrs before full blown cfs), I was told by drs then that you can only get 'mono' once, so I coudln't have that again. Lots of cfs patients I know of have had mono (epstein barr virus) Marcia
