Guest guest
, you must know that when you say 'mold' you might as well be saying 'gobbledygock' because short of actually seeing it growing on the walls - which I assume rarely happens - nobody knows what the signs of mold exposure are, or how you can detect it or how you can tell are bothered by it. LMost people have resisted the mycotoxin idea because they dont have any idea what it is. You have been a prophet in the wilderness for years now, shouting to the rooftops how mold is or can be at the root of CFS but you have provided absolutely no help for people who might be exposed to it. I suggest you write a paper outlining the dangers of mold, how to determine if it is present and most importantly ways CFS patients can determine if they have a mold problem. You might also add books to read about it, etc. How long could it take to do that? I'll put it on my website. And put your story on it. If you put your story on the website it'll get about 50 hits a month right now. Thats 600 people a year and thousands over the course of time. Thats alot of people you could help. erikmoldwarrior <erikmoldwarrior@...> wrote: " rvankonynen " wrote: Hi, All. I just read the news about Bob Harrington, also. Poor guy. He suffered a lot, and for a long time. I guess he just lost hope. I wish I had done more for him. I really thought he had gotten to the root of his illness with his discovery a while back that the mold in his home was getting to him. I wish he could have visited Dr. Shoemaker. > The urgency of what we're trying to do here has just been brought home again. People, don't give up. > Rich and all, what people should understand about Bob's experience is that he firmly rejected the mold concept and resisted implicating mycotoxins for years and did not make this determination as a normal consequence of perceiving exposure and identifying the source. Mold illness is not obvious and apparent as people think it must surely be. If you examine the stories of mold survivors, they rarely discover it on their own - even when driven to extreme disability. When Bob found the water accumulation feeding mold under his trailer, he attempted to deal with it himself despite a strong warning that this would be disastrous, and he was forced to flee to a motel in agony. After spending 21 days in a tent and feeling the benefits of avoidance, he attempted to return to the trailer while in the phase Dr Shoemaker calls " intensification reaction " . This is a perilous time for people dealing with mold, and Bob was emotionally slammed and neurologically disabled beyond the point of being able respond to the situation appropriately and control the complex variables involved in a mold evacuation. This is difficult almost beyond imagination. Bob's messages to me indicate that he really was coming to an understanding of mycotoxins as a driving force in his symptoms, but the first impulse of most people in this stage is to rush into measures and personal involvement in remediation that have proven repeatedly to be disastrous and deadly. People who find mold must not do this. Mold illness is not obvious. What would seem to be a logical responses to finding mold are absolutely counterproductive and life destroying. The explanations are not quick and nobody is going to understand this with a short description, it has been a very long education for those of us who have been through it. - This list is intended for patients to share personal experiences with each other, not to give medical advice. Guest guest
Sure, Marcia. Could you and anyone else who wants these please backchannel me so I'll have your email addresses and can send out a group email? Thanks. Thanks to you and anyone else who explained their past experiences with Bob. I had never experienced this with him before, I really didn't understand what was happening when he started attacking me and saying strange accusations. I didn't say anything mean back, just tried to make him see that I didn't mean what he thought I did. Once he snapped out of it, I could see what had happened, but it was very hard to deal with while it was happening. It's hard when I am feeling on the edge myself to get enough perspective to understand others' pain. I definitely think a support group is a good idea for situations like this, I mean who else could understand that someone was having these symptoms due to mold. I mean, if you see a counsellor (not that I can leave the house or even talk much), their perspective on pathological behaviour is not going to include organic illness or the particular trial we face with this disease. And of course, it's needed for when we have to deal with these tragic losses. I'm sure lots of us still feel we need closure on , but have been self-conscious to ask on here. Speaking of, does anyone have photos of ? I've been wanting to put a face to his words. I might contact his friend, I was just going to let him be for a little while. > > > > > > Thanks for posting that Rich.
