Guest guest
Hi Rich I think I have a fairly good supplemental regime and I will improve my lifestyle also. I have just come back from the dental surgery and they say that I have inflamed gums and i need at least 3 teeth extracted. My teeth feel weak and Im sure this is an indication of my general bone health also. Im going to o a few things for my teeth: 1) find a mercury free dentist 2) use a lactoferrin toothpaste - biotene 3) use a toothpaste to remineralise my teeth 4) use a co q10 toothpaste 5) Genigel gum healing gel I wouldnt have thought taking lots of calcium supps was the answer to help my bones/ teeth as in CFS there is often a calcium imbalance with it leaching out of the bones which is what I think happened im my case possibly to buffer the acidic state of my bodys chemistry whilst in a CFS state. I have re balanced this by taking magnesium. As you know I think I have another 8 months to go to be fully recovered after 16 years of CFS. My question is how do i improve my overall bone health - weight bearing excercises ? Vitamin D supps? Also what is the best method of root canal extraction? Guest guest
Hi CS you should look into xylitol gum as this helps remineralise teeth. Mastic gum also helps kill the nasties that cause gum disease and could be helpful. I have used both of these products and they do help a lot Re: Rich/anyone: Dental / Bone health in CFS > Hi Rich > > I think I have a fairly good supplemental regime and I will improve my > lifestyle also. Guest guest
You can get it from the nutri centre. Its called unique sweet gum. Alternatively you can just buy xylitol powder and make a mouth rinse from it. Its cheaper to do this. There are a few places in the UK that sell the xylitol but I don't have any links Re: Rich/anyone: Dental / Bone health in CFS > > " you should look into xylitol gum as this helps remineralise teeth " > > Hi > > thanks ive found a good ear cleanser that contains xylitol and toothpaste. > > Has anyone got any good links for xylitol gum ( bearing in mind im in the > Uk > ) ? > > Regards > CS > > > > >

Guest guest
CS My gums were dreadful and so were my teeth; my dentist has always taken my illness seriously. I live in the UK and buy xlitol as a powder, you can buy it online (UK supplier), from Higher Nature, and larger branches of Holland and Barrett sell small packs. The chewing gums that help clean teeth may contian xylitol; I cannot remember the name of the one I used because that was some years ago, it may have been sugar free Orbit. When I used this gum it was widely available; other similar gums may contain xlitol too. As well as the xlitol I use a homeopathic calendular toothpaste and a hydrogen peroxide mouthwash just before retiring at night. Changing over to an ionic toothbrush seems to have helped as well. Ca supps made me worse so I subscribed to the same theory on Mg; whilst this helped avoid apparent problems with Ca the demineralisation of my teeth etc continued, relying on Mg did not help my arthiritis and bone health long term. This year I turned these problems around by taking vit D3, boron and Ca; my sources of Ca were first coral calcium then sea calcium extracted from a veggie source and which also provides additional trace elements. Guest guest
Hi, CS, I think the Life Extension Foundation has a pretty good article about bone health in men. You can find it at http://www.lef.org/magazine/mag2004/jan2004_report_male_01.htm They also sell a product called Bone Assure, which contains a combination of supplements. I notice that is doesn't have vitamin K, though, which is one of the supplements mentioned in their article. Lately I've also been hearing that strontium has shown good results for osteoporosis in women. Yes, exercise is important for building bones. You probably know that the astronauts have been found to lose bone mass because of the lack of gravity, putting less stress on their bones. That's part of the reason they exercise in the space station. Concerning root canal extraction, I don't know much about oral surgery. Being in the U.K., you might consider looking here: (It's a list of oral and maxillofacial surgical facilites in the U.K.) http://www.baoms.org.uk/CD-ROM/Handbook2005.pdf I think the important thing is to try to find an oral surgeon who has a good reputation. I've had four wisdom teeth extracted and two root canals done, and I haven't had problems with any of them. This work was done by oral surgeons. I know that there are people who recommend not getting any root canals at all, because they can become infected, but I haven't had any problems with mine. Of course, my immune system is not dysfunctional, and that may be an important part of why root canal and cavitation problems show up in many PWCs. I'm not sure which comes first in CFS, the gum problems, or the immune dysfunction. Rich > My question is how do i improve my overall bone health - weight bearing > excercises ? Guest guest
Tansy, So. I understand from this post that you don't take magnesium separately to replenish magnesium levels, but rather you take the coral calcium? I have been taking magnesium separately two or three times a day, and then a coral calcium only once a day. It looks like my teeth are getting demineralized. Vitamin D 3, boron & sea calcium is helping your teeth (without extra magnesium)? Du Pre Website: http://www.angelfire.com/poetry/soareagle/index.html " By words the mind is winged. They sell a high potency Vit K that has K1 and K2, both alone and as part of their Super Booster (which is an excellent buy if you are already taking several of its other ingredients). -- el (andreafrankel at sbcglobal dot net) " wake now!
