Guest guest
Hi, CS. The PDR (Physician's Desk Reference) for Nutritional Supplements says that nausea, diarrhea, indigestion and muscle cramping are typical or common adverse effects of supplemental creatine. Jon Pangborn writes that creatine supplementation has been found to help only about 10% of autistic kids. I guess I would suggest not taking it if it bothers you. Pangborn writes that some sources of creatine (such as those used by bodybuilders) have excessive impurities for autistic kids who do not detox well [i think this might also apply to PWCs]. He also writes that if mercury is being mobilized at the time creatine is taken, the mercury can interfere with the normal phosphorylation of creatine by the enzymes creatine kinase. He also suggests measuring the blood level of creatine before supplementing it, because in some cases it is already too high, perhaps because of a problem with the creatine transporter system. Concerning homocysteine, I think that difficulty in remethylating homocysteine to methionine could be something that is very important in CFS, and as far as I know, its significance in CFS has not been fully appreciated by many in the CFS community until now. Concerning TMG, I suggest that you read what I wrote in an earlier message this evening, quoting Pangborn.
