Guest guest
I can understand medication increasing perfusion, and but I cannot understand how the exercise using the EEG can increase perfusion. It is very easy for me to envision working a muscle and thereby increasing perfusion but harder for me to think about the brain in the same way. It is not the same kind of tissue however why would the principle not be the same? Use it or lose it, use it and build it does work for muscles and bone. We know that brain stimulation is the elderly not just works but is absolutely essential. Do you have any thoughts on how this mechanism can work? I thought when this treatment came out that this it worked by training or retraining other parts of the brain. That is something that is well documented for a number of other brain injuries. Is your child a patient of Dr. Goldberg's and are you following his protocol also? I wonder if there are some computer games that would have similar results for the same reasons? Is this why FastForward works for some children? Anybody have some thoughts or know of some research? Kathy
Guest guest
I tend to think along the lines of Dr. Goldberg, that this might temporarily help, but doesn't address WHY The brain is not working correctly---I think this is the same phenomemon seen in kids who improve doing ABA and then regress when it is interrupted---it helped the deficit, but didn't eliminate the CAUSE Kate
Guest guest
This sounds fascinating to me. Does anyone know where can getmore information on the neurotherapy? Where can one get that done? Also, , waht medications are used for perfusion? >>> <JOSKAT95@...> 01/14/00 11:27AM >>> From: JOSKAT95@... Guest guest
Kate, I agree. I think another big concern.......if the childs brain is shutting down due to medical problems, what if you are getting other parts of the brain to take over? I don't know if that happens, but I think that would be something to find out, since that is what happens when there is some type of permanent brain injury. They get other parts of the brain to take over for the damaged area. Guest guest
I think that it use to be called biofeedback. If you go to the ADHD sites you will find it mentioned. More adults use it than children is my impression. As with everything it helps some but not all. SSRI's. You can read about the drugs and the pre and post neurospects on his website. Guest guest
Cheryl, That may be why it works when it does but it seems to me that the first effort should be towards treating the brain through the immune system. If you do not every step forward will be knocked back when something else triggers the immune system. Kathy
