Guest guest
Hi Katrien. It is my understanding that one should not do DMPS chelation while you still have amalgams in your teeth. I did a hair test in 1998 which showed high levels of mercury. My doctor wanted me to have my amalgams removed and do DMPS chelation but I did not feel strong enough to endure the process at the time. A few years later I started IV glutathione treatments and did them for a couple years before removing my amalgams. These helped me enough that I was able to have the amalgams removed and do DMPS chelation with no problem. I feel very strongly that the IV glutathione was the major factor in making the process go well for me. My mercury levels were lower than expected a few weeks after the amalgam removal and my levels dropped quickly when I did the DMPS chelation. IV glutathione may not be necessary for you. It does not help everyone and other people get enough glutathione from other sources, such as undenatured whey protein. But I think it is important to have plenty of glutathione available when you remove your amalgams. Also test to see that your cysteine is not high (a possible side effect of trying to raise glutathione levels). The removal of my amalgams and mercury chelation helped me only a little. Some people are hurt by it. So be careful about getting your amalgams removed and doing DMPS chelation. Tom > Hi everyone, > > I've had cfids for about 5 years. Guest guest
I would have a look at dmpsbackfire.com before I took that drug. Helen > > Hi everyone, > > > > I've had cfids for about 5 years. Guest guest
Hi Katrien, I took the DMPS challenge test while I had 18 amalgam fillings in my mouth (5 of them under gold crowns). I *don't* recommend it. The doctor who recommended it to me had helped me a lot; I trusted him. I had 4 more injections of DMPS (with the fillings still there), even after reading dmpsbackfire.com. It was VERY BAD. Arthritis in my knees which had been totally gone for a couple years came back fast and strong - I was crippled with it for several months. Other problems which had been long resolved also returned. It was like clockwork - 2-1/2 weeks after each injection the body went DOWN, wherever it had been weakened. I got the amalgams replaced and changed to a doctor who specializes in toxic metals detox; it has made a big difference for me. And I tried to chelate too fast, and am in a relapse now because of it. I believe that any doctor recommending DMPS while amalgams are present doesn't understand mercury and is a danger to you. My opinion. This issue *can* be handled safely. Good luck to you! -Lynn
Guest guest
> Hypothetically this could also be from the abx effect of excess mercury being released. **Yes, that was my understanding. Lots of mercury set loose in the body but not taken out, so toxicity goes sky-high. >The delay is interesting, because there are bugs that cycle...And a Bb herx will definitely take the body down, WAAAY down. And you mention joint pain, which is a hallmark of Lyme herx. **Interesting. I've tested negative for Lyme, but understand that doesn't mean much. Yes, my knees were hit, but the other dramatic baddie was return of major depression - overnight, full-blown, at 2-1/2 weeks after the 2nd injection. Fortunately DLPA (DL-Phenylalanine) quickly took care of that. 500mg at 8AM and again at noon. I'm still taking the 8AM dose, mostly out of superstition. I'm waiting to see if chelation gets me well. (Been in a relapse too deep to allow any chelation, but hope to resume later this summer.) If not, I'll have to take another look at Lyme. Take care. -Lynn
Guest guest
Kurt, I think this is a really interesting idea. For people who have both mercury buildup and ongoing bacterial infections, as many PWCs do (I believe because of glutathione depletion), I think it's entirely plausible that moving the mercury around in attempts to detox it could impact the bacteria and produce herxing when they die and release endotoxins. That's a fascinating thought! This could very well be another possible interaction/vicious circle mechanism that PWCs have to endure. Guest guest
Hi Lynn, Thanks very much for sharing your experience. It has helped me make a decision. I will tell my doctor I will not take the DPMS-test due to the severe health risks involved. However, I will consult a biological dentist and ask her if she can replace the fillings with white ones. I believe a certain protocol has to be followed in order to replace them in a correct and healthy way, right? I wish you all the best.
