Adrenal Insufficiency in CFIDS may be tied to variant of APS

Just a FYI, I recently did a search on medline for APS and adrenal

and found that conventional medical literature is recommending

adrenal testing for anyone found to have APS because there are more

and more cases of micro-thrombosis in the adrenal glands being

reported.

This is of particular concern if you are taking a drug(Benicar) that

reduces adrenal output and do not have normal coagulation (which >

80% of CFIDS patients do not have). An irish study found that ~ 50%

of CFIDS patients have adrendals that are 50% of normal size -- which

would be consistant with micro-thrombosis. Another study found that

the incidence of Adrenal problems go up with duration of CFIDS.

One citation:

Adrenal failure followed by status epilepticus and hemolytic anemia

in primary antiphospholipid syndrome.

It seems that hypercoagulation may cause a variety of other symptoms

seen with CFIDS.
