Guest guest
Thanks for your report Trudy. It certainly sounds like you were getting jaundiced. I wonder why you got such an extreme response. Usually, when you get the runs it is adviseable to drink plenty of fluids. Adrienne ParaGone Cleanse Hi everyone, I thought I would report in with my experience regarding the ParaGone cleanse (Renew Life) for parasites. The cleanse is to last fifteen days. You are to take two pills three times per day and 15 drops of the second bottle three times per day. After 15 days, you are to take a five day break and then start another box (which lasts for 15 days). The first 15 day cleanse is to kill off the parasites and the second 15 day cleanse is to kill off the eggs. From the very beginning of the cleanse, I experienced loose stools that moved on to extreme diarrhea. At one point, in an attempt to stop the diarrhea and remove the toxins, I took some bentonite clay along with Herbal Bulk (since their product FibreSmart wasn't effective for stopping the diarrhea). The bentonite clay and herbal bulk mixture worked effectively in forming solid stools. However, after only one day, I became extremely ill. I realized that the toxins were not moving out of my system and I was very sick. Later that evening, I took some coffee and went for a walk to get things moving. It worked and after relieving myself I was able to sleep. In the morning, I was back to my diarrhea and was feeling much better. By day seven of the cleanse I noticed that my urine was a dark yellow. I had never seen anything like this before. After a few days, I contacted the Renew Life people and was told that it could be due to dehydration, B2 vitamin, or toxins. In my case, it certainly could be dehydration, because with the severe diarrhea I was avoiding eating and drinking. However, it could also have been removal of toxins. (It wasn't B2, because I stopped all my vitamins a couple of months earlier.) I was told to go to half my dose; however, because of the incredible stress on my body, I decided today to stop the cleanse entirely. This is unfortunate, since I only had two more days to go. However, I found the cleanse to be very difficult. My concern was yesterday a lady at the coffee shop commented on how dark my sun tan was. I thought it was strange, since this past week we didn't get much sun, because the weather was overcast and cool for the most part. Just this evening, a fellow who works at another coffee shop came over and commented on how dark my sun tan was. Again, I thought it was strange. My sister then commented to me that she noticed, for over a week now, that my skin has turned yellow. I looked to other parts of my body that weren't tanned and was shocked to see that it was yellow. Anyway, in doing some study on this it seems to me that this could be a sign of liver problems. So I am just going to drink plenty of water to try to correct this problem. Already, my urine is lightening; however, first thing in the morning it still is pretty dark. I must say that while the Renew Life cleanses may be too strong for me, I am really impressed with their customer service. Both the phone and email have been very helpful. Interestingly, my " jelly belly " has noticeably shrunk and when I look down I now see my breasts instead of my belly. I'm not sure if this was because of all the diarrhea that I experienced, or because of the toxins that were being removed. This change has been so noticeable that even my husband commented on it. Right now I'm going to try to get things back to " normal, " and am thinking of doing the Hulda parasite cleanse (with the three herbs: wormwood, cloves and black walnut) when I regain my strength. In the past, I had results doing her cleanse and my body tolerated the program very easily. Guest guest
Hi Trudy - I haven't done the ParaGone Cleanse, can't speak to that. I turned yellow right after I had the mercury taken out of my teeth. (Most of my skin was yellow, except my feet which were orange.) I was told it was liver-related - liver being overworked, basically. I was told to take Rescue Remedy (a Bach flower essence), 4 drops, 4x/day. And to do a liver compress several times a week: * rub some castor oil on the skin over your liver (~1 Tbls?) from ~midline over almost to your right side, from ~waist up over several ribs (the liver is big) * cover this with some plastic wrap - for keeping tidy * cover that with a lightweight towel (so you won't get burned) * lie down with a hot pad over the whole thing, 20-30 min. No longer. * Wash up. I got normal color back after about 3 months. I stopped the Rescue Remedy then, but still do the liver compress sometimes. Very soothing. (Milk thistle was also suggested; my body didn't like it.) --------------- I had good results with Hulda 's parasite cleanse, and no bad effects. She recommends building up to a full dose over 3 weeks, then taking it once a week. Because I had a huge load of parasites, I built up to the full dose on her schedule, then took it daily for several months. Finally it didn't quite agree with me - I didn't need it any more. Good luck! -Lynn P.S. I don't know which specific parasites they were. My doc used a machine called an " Ondamed " to find them. It's explained at www.holistiquemedicine.com/ondamed.htm if you're interested. FWIW, my body doesn't tolerate treatments from the Ondamed very well, but using it just for diagnostic purposes has worked for me.
Guest guest
Hi, Trudy. The combination of yellow skin and dark urine after a treatment that involves the liver suggests that bilirubin is building up in your blood and is being carried out in the urine, because the liver for some reason is not able to carry enough of it out in the bile. This is called jaundice. Bilirubin is a breakdown product from old red blood cells, and is normally carried out in the bile. Perhaps the extended diarrhea has carried out a lot of your bile salts, which are normally reabsorbed and used over. If so, your liver will need some time to replace them so that it can restore its normal flow of bile. They are synthesized from cholesterol. I think that it's good that you are giving your liver a rest from the treatments and drinking lots of water. Guest guest
Trudy, I just want to second Rich's comments (and yours) about the water and letting the liver rest. My doc didn't OK me to do the Hulda parasite cleanse until my system had stabilized and my color had been normal a few weeks... Take care. -Lynn
Guest guest
Hi Lynn, Thank you so much for confirming this liver connection and for suggestions regarding treatment. My mom told me to do castor oil packs, so she will be pleased to hear that you also suggest them. She also told me to follow a strict diet of no sugar or fat. I'm to eat as many green vegetables as possible--especially leafy green--so that means lots of salads. I guess I can have a little fruit as well. And, of course, I'm to drink plenty of water. I didn't realize that it will take me several months to correct this problem. I was thinking a couple of weeks. Oh well, I will take it one day at a time. I won't be doing Hulda 's parasite cleanse for at least a couple of months until after my skin colour returns to normal. I still feel that the parasite issue has to be addressed. I just have to use more gentle means for detoxing. The link you sent was very interesting. I went to the liver detox link at the site and they said that " those who are weak and fragile from a debilitating disease should not detox. " http://www.holistiquemedicine.com/detox.htm Right now I'm very exhausted and weak, and I'm sleeping a lot. Apparently sleep is also an important part of recovery. What an interesting ride it has been! :-) Do you know why they recommend the Rescue Remedy? Were you able to recover enough to detox the mercury? If so, what did you do for that? Guest guest
Hi Rich, Thanks so much for taking the time to explain this to me. I tried to search it out yesterday, and the only thing I was able to find out was that my liver was involved, so I appreciate your insights. Do you know if there is a way to help increase bile salts? In hindsight, I now realize that I should not have let the diarrhea go on for over 24 hours. I was quite confused as to where to draw the line. I didn't want to be a wimp! :-) In the future, I will know better. On the box, there is a notice that the product contains Cape Aloe Gel. I presume that is known for causing diarrhea, loose stools, or abdominal pain. Hence the warning. (Regarding the cleanse I did before--CleanseSmart--it also had a warning on the bottle. It had magnesium hydroxide, Cape Aloe gel and Rhubarb root, amongst other things. In the future, I will check labels for these items before I buy any product. Today I took 10 mg of prednisone to stop the diarrhea. Everything seems fine now. I returned the other unopened cleanses that I planned on doing tonight. I told the girl at the health food store that I planned on just drinking water, but she told me that now, more than ever, I should be assisting my liver with phase 2 detox. She recommended the following: - 4 litres of water (minimum) - Vitamin C (1-2 Emergen-C, plus C chewables every four hours) - Alcabase - a.m. and p.m. (in warm water) - Increase fiber - ISO-Whey - Ultra Clear Rich, what do you think of her suggestions? I'm quite certain this is just a temporary set back, but I would like to help my body along as much as possible. Guest guest
I am curious how you came to take prednisone for diarrhea. Is that common practice? Why not just immodium? Doris
Guest guest
I don't knoow how reliable this is but I had heard from a dr, who had CFIDS, years ago that immodium was not so good for your liver-I think it was a bit toxic-there again, I don't know if this is reliable- Natasha Re: Re: ParaGone Cleanse I am curious how you came to take prednisone for diarrhea. Guest guest
Hi Doris, You are right. A person who just has diarrhea wouldn't take prednisone. However, my situation is more like colitis than Irritable Bowel Syndrome or diarrhea. I haven't been diagnosed with colitis, because the doctors here don't take my illness or complaints seriously. Both my mom and dad had colitis (both were tested). Additionally, when I saw an acupuncturist (who had been the chief head of an emergency room in a so-called third world country), he told me it sounded more like colitis than IBS. Of course, I would have to be tested to confirm diagnosis. Prednisone is often standard treatment for a colitis flare. (Imodium doesn't cut it for me.) Guest guest
Trudy - > I didn't realize that it will take me several months to correct this problem. **I seem to be an extreme case, so don't assume it will take you as long to get pink again (or whatever your healthy color is). I had mercury taken out of 18 teeth in one day (under sedation, w/VitC IV). That's hard on a body! That was Feb 2004. > I still feel that the parasite issue has to be addressed. I just have to use more gentle means for detoxing. **Yup, that why I went that route. I used drugs for H. Pylori and they worked but they took a lot out of me. This was much easier. > The link you sent was very interesting. I went to the liver detox link at the site and they said that " those who are weak and fragile from a debilitating disease should not detox. " > http://www.holistiquemedicine.com/detox.htm **Hmm. Makes good sense. Unless of course detoxing is the only way out of the debilitating disease. I've never looked at the rest of that site, just found their Ondamed explanation thru Google. I'm gradually figuring out that my system is fragile and needs to be handled carefully. Duh. My mind can come up with all kinds of ambitious schedules for treatments, but the body has its own pace. > Right now I'm very exhausted and weak, and I'm sleeping a lot. Apparently sleep is also an important part of recovery. > What an interesting ride it has been! :-) **Amen. > Do you know why they recommend the Rescue Remedy? **Sorry, no. But it did seem to help. And I was told about the liver compresses, but frankly didn't start them for a couple months 'cause the method I was given was more than my brain could deal with. Finally I heard this version. I don't remember just when I started them in relation to when the yellow faded. I continued them while chelating - keep that liver happy! >She also told me to follow a strict diet of no sugar or fat. **That sounds reasonable... >Were you able to recover enough to detox the mercury? If so, what did you do for that? **I started chelating mercury about a month after the fillings were removed (while I was still sunny yellow). I don't remember what started first at which dosages, but it eventually included: Alpha-lipoic acid 300mg Vit C 2g 3-4x/day Chlorella 3g Citramin II 6 caps Magnesium citrate 400mg MSM 3g 2x/day NDF 10 drops Rescue Remedy 4 drops 4x/day Zinc Piccolinate 50 mg Castor oil compress Coffee enema Bentonite clay bath 1/month I made good progess on this, seeing noticeable improvement in function every 3 weeks or so. I started the Hulda parasite cleanse last summer, concurrent. And of course there were lots of other things in my daily line-up that weren't directly related to mercury or parasites. Things like cod liver oil and CoQ10. Keeping up with it all... I hit a high stress time last winter, ended up with severe mineral depletion and had to stop chelating in Dec. Major relapse in Feb didn't help either. I'm just coming out of that now, and hope to resume chelating (at a slower pace) soon. Rest well! -Lynn
Guest guest
I think that all of us have tendencies to want to do too much, too fast. I try to remember I'm in it for the long haul. For example when I started antibiotics, it took me a year to work up to a full dose. But my feelng was, why go faster and be miserable? Same thing for mercury detox. Especially because our bodies are not in the same shape as other peoples (our livers, etc) it is usually important to go slow.
