Guest guest
Hi, I am confused. I thought Zantac was for upset stomach. I use Zyrtec, the allergy medicine, occasionally and have found that seems to calm my fibromyalgia a little. If I am having a real bad fibro episode I find that taking Benadryl seems to help me. I take it for about 2 days nonstop (it makes me drowsy, but if I'm that sick, I'm usually in bed anyway) and it seems to calm my body down. This is not recommended if you are going to drive! Is anyone else using any allergy meds for fibro relief, and if so, what are they? Sincerely, Jody
Guest guest
Zantac is also a potent H2 histamine receptor blocker. I am currently experimenting with it for this purpose. Mastocytosis patients, and IMCAD (Idiopathic Mast Cell Activation Disorder) patients also use it for this purpose. If you have a lot of sensitivities to foods, and chemicals, etc., experimenting with various anti-histamines (like Zantac) may prove useful. Most people report best success using the " real " Zantac, and not the off brand. Some people seem to be sensitive to the dye in Zantac. Some have reported increased relief from numbness and tingling in hands and feet while on Zantac. Mastocytosis patients often take over 200mg of Zantac/ day. I am experimenting with ~ 25mg/day, seemingly with helpful results. There is an public group for Mastocytosis. Zippy
Guest guest
OK, I don't know anything about IMAD. But years ago, at least 5 years ago now, Zantac was on the " recommended " list for PWC's. All it did was make me worse, and apparently a lot of other people too because it never shows up on these lists anymore. But if you are using it for a different purpose maybe it is worth shutting off your stomach acid. doris ----- Original Message ----- From: bhp355 Zantac is also a potent H2 histamine receptor blocker.
